Monster Cables (HDMI Male to Male, M1000HD 8ft 1080P @ 15.8 Gbps)

I have been vacillating on whether I should take the plunge and buy these cables.
I have found some real deals on these cables on EBay, but am a bit reluctant to buy it from there.

Any of the sellers here have similar prices?
Looking for HDMI MONSTER CABLE M1000HD 8ft 1080P @ 15.8 Gbps
Even 14.9 Gbps is OK.
I am looking to buy two cables for 70 AUD delivered or 5 cables for 160 AUD delivered, in the proper original sealed package (crab shell seal on top and bottom), which should not be compared to the fake versions (totally unsealed and are held together with 4 plastic tabs which are easily put back in place).

Anyone?
Cheers,
Varun

  • Counterfeit product. Monster cables are availble throughout asia for $10AUD each. Impossible to pic from the original article and beign HDMI will deliver you a perfect viewing experience anyway.

    • Hi Jason,
      Thanks for the reply.
I would be interested to know if there is any basis for stating the cables are "Counterfeit product"?
As I understand, the margins are enormous, and it is possible to have discounted cables at a cheaper price.
And how to know whether a cable is actually Monster cable or an imitation?
      Thanks again,
      Cheers,
      Varun

      • There is no way to know, I recently cancelled an order of 1,000 monster units when at the last minute it was determined they were an indistiguishable knock off of the original.

Check out alibaba.com (this is where the chinese manufacturers all advertise for wholesale orders), you can grab PERFECT knock off Monster cables for $7 USD each in retail packing identical to that sold at retailers in Australia.

Regarding the other comments, HDMI is uses digital transmission, so there is no difference in theory between the $30 and the $130 cable - having said that I once purchased a consignment of cheap cables for resale on ebay and they really didn't work well (image stabilisation issues) but these were REALLY cheap cables which I think had current leaks between the individual strands of the cabling.

Give a cheap cable a go - if it doesn't work then splurge out on the monster.

        • Thanks for your reply and time.
Yes, I know that MOST monster cables on ebay are counterfeit.
But in theory, there can be differences between cables. it can be due to various reasons- like material of construction of cables, impedance, shielding to prevent interference, cable length etc.

Also, I have six HDMI cables already, but I wanted to see if there was something better.
I have already ordered a couple of cables from www.proaudiovisual.com.au- so let's see how they fare,
          Cheers,

  • Don't buy into the hype that you need a super cable to play HD.
Buy a cheap one, use it. If you can find a place that will do 30day money back or something, THEN buy the monster and compare the two…
I've seen 4 pairs of cables side by side, the "best" was the cheapest as they all had the same picture quality, I think it was from http://www.monoprice.com/home/index.asp

    • +1
my mate at myer says there isn't a difference between the $30 hdmi and the $120 hdmi cables (other than price lol)

      • At what cable length and what setup did he use to test his assertion?
        Thanks,
        Varun

        • i think it was a standard length, 1-2m. but i'll ask him next time i see him.

  • I have already got 6 HDMI cables.
One bought from Sony Centre (Sony VMC30HD)
One from JB Hi Fi- (Belkin PureAV).
The rest from Ozenetics, CrazyStu and another website I do not remember.
Somehow, I wanted to try Monster cable as well.
    Cheers,
