eBayay item shipped Germany probably lost?

At end of july,I had a video game posted to Germany via registered auspost, And last week the buyer messaged me saying his item has not arrived.

So I made a call to australia post, Still having the receipts and was told, nothing was showing on the German postage website? So they raised an issue and will take 2months!

Today I have called paypal australia and was informed that I needed to call ebay up, which I did. after reaching a operator after explaining my situation, I was then told they would have to put me thought to ebay or paypal Germany…. Ebay australia said austalia has PayPal protection and Germany has some other protection which is kind of confusing. The Germany PayPal//ebay is sill closed so have wait till tonight for ebay aus to transfer me over to continue this…

If the item was lost at the end, will austalia post or Germany postal services refund the buyer? The total amount if the item was worth $200 excluding postage.

  • Did you send the item Registered International?

Looks like Aus Post cover up to $100 as standard but you may have taken out extra cover? In any case, I think you'll have to refund the buyer & wait for a refund from Aus Post.

  • Yes. I wanted to purchase extra cover which covers over $100 but auspost insisted that since Germany was a high risk country there is no extra option. I just don't want to be out of pocket at the end.

  • Germany a high risk country? Doesn't sound right.
Anyway, Got Fever is right: compensate the buyer and in time Australia Post will compensate you $100.
I have been posting stuff to Germany for 30 years and nothing has ever been lost. I have to wonder if the buyer is telling the truth about the article not turning up……

  • If the item is lost, does PayPal or postal services conpensate the buyer? I just had a very rough time with PayPal then ebay…

Just called PayPal, wasnt helpfull was told to call ebay australia, then transfer to ebay Germany, and operator could not speak english, transferre me to china??? Wtf, china told me had nothing to do with them, transferre me back to aus ebay, and again to Germany, and said will call me back!

The duspute was opened Friday last week, any idea when investigation finishes so I can up load my dockets? I asked ebay and had no idea.

  • PayPal will compensate the buyer via your PayPal account. You are stuck with the cost of a refund until Aus Post stump up your cash. If you've uploaded your proof of posting to PayPal then they will close the case pretty soon and ask you to refund the buyer.

  • Also it sounds like you'll be down $100 if it sold for $200.

    • Yes, Auspost will refund the max $100 + your delivery cost

i had a similar thing happen to me (registered post to US) and it was around 2 months after my initial email to Auspost that i received a money order for just under $140
