Good Internet deals?

Hi all!
I'm getting ready to change my internet plan and want to know if any of the OzBarginer's out there know any good internet plans I should investigate. Currently, I am with iiNet (as they own TransACT) and we live in the ACT.
We are regularly using a cap of 50 gig that I'm regularly going over. I do game a bit and we do use video chat, so speed is an issue (although our ADSL2+ connection seems good enough). We have it as a pack with a mobile for about $40 for the net (spending around $40 for the mobile too).
Any suggestions for a better deal? Ideally, I'd want to increase our limit without increasing the cost of the bill. I wouldn't mind changing the mobile phone either - it's just there for now.

I'm on $60 TPg Unlimited with line rental. It's an old offer but new signups can get it for $70 (no limit) or $50 ADSL standalone will give you 500GB.

To clarify that, the $60 plan is still available to new customers; it just doesn't include any phone calls (never has). The $70 plan has unlimited local and standard national calls to landlines.

      • emibel19 is correct, I've that plan.

I had 50GB plan just like you and constantly went over and got charged.
DoDo has 3TB plan for $59.75/month and unlimited plan for $59.80/month.
I signed up for the unlimited plan.
It has been 3 months and I used no where near 3TB.
I should have saved 5c/month by going for the 3TB plan…

    • Lets do some math 3TB is 3,000,000,000,000 (3+10^12) Bytes.

Assume you have a 10 mbit connection (1250 Bytes).

      3000000000000/1250= 2,400,000,000 (seconds to download 3TB given a 10 mbit connection)

      2,400,000,000/60 = 40,000,000 Mins / 60 = 666666 Hours / 24 = 27777 Days!

You' re out by a factor of 1000. 10 megabits per second is 10,000 kilobits or 1250 kilobytes per second (not allowing for overheads) not 1250 bytes, so that would make it about 28 days.

  • Thanks for the posts sofar (knowing people here, I think there may be a lot more than I thought). tg - I've got this thing against DoDo - just can't stand their adds! Might look anyway…

  • Every once in a while the telcos do good deals on bundles. I have a $60/month bundle with optus- unlimited standard/national/13/1800 calls and 50GB of internet. Just keep your eyes peeled.

    • I'm sorry but that's not even a good deal… 50GB for $60???

      • For $60 you get TPG unlimited ADSL2+ @20mbps with home phone. Add another $10 and you get -
        * UNLIMITED Local Calls – Incl. 13/1300 Numbers
        * UNLIMITED Standard National Calls to Landlines
        * 100 International Minutes Per Month

And thats a regular plan from TPG. Not sure what is the definition of a good deal by Benzened.
