Cheapest postage to Japan

My partner often sends parcels to her family in Japan, birthday presents, toys for niece etc and the postage is always more than the actual item cost. Last time it was like.$60 to send a small teddy bear a and a pair of thongs!

Does anyone know of the cheapest way to ship to Japan?

Thanks

  • Sea mail? The downside is delivery time varies. Could be 2 weeks, could be 6 weeks…

  • Try this one http://www.skippypost.com.au/

I have used them to post to South America and found it reasonably priced and good service.

  • 1kg costs:

    Ordinary Freight Cost: $18.28
OR, if you wish to track the parcel
    SkippyTracker Cost: $31.31

Parcel Loss/Damage Coverage (based on $50 value): $3.50, $6.00 to cover $100 value.

  • Thanks for the comments guys.

NancyCat, I don't think Oz post does sea mail any more (to Japan atleast). I checked on their site for the rate check and it would only display air mail options.

whodidthat, skippypost seems to be only 30c cheaper than Australia Post unfortunately. Thanks though!

    Any other suggestions people?
