View Counter on Forum Posts

Hi all,

I am not sure if this has been raised before, but was wondering why there isn't a view counter similar to those found on deals. It would be quite helpful to know how many people took interest in the post. Unique and total views would be great.

What does everyone think? Mods?

Have the same view counter like each deal, please.

    Why should we have this?

    I don't really care.

  • I always wondered, are clicks meaning people click on the deal on ozbargain or onto the the deals link which leads to the website/pic?

  • +2

I think they are clickthru —> People that clicked thru to the deal link

    • Oh, I never thought about that. I always thought it was the amount of clicks to that deal page.

It's not always accurate. The links in the description of the deal is not monitored by the counter.

    • Yes the clicks are the number of times people clicked on the thumbnail or "Go to Deal". Also what @scrimshaw said — we don't track click-throughs on links inside the content or in the comments.

  • Unique views would be ok. Not sure there is any benefit for total.

imo member / non member count would be more interesting.

  • 5 - just checking for accuracy.

    • Wait, this should be #4

  • 6 - double check

  • 7 - yep, works for me.

  • Sure. Any extra information would be interest although I don't think they are "useful". Moreover recording them correctly and presenting all these analytics can be difficult. Certainly not something we are planning to do at the moment.

    • Thanks for the information Scotty.

I'm the kind of person that likes to know more info regarding analytical data.
