    • Yes, that's correct. They have the case at $99 but our deal includes the travel pillow.

  • I'm looking for a carry-on at the moment, so been checking the domestic airlines' allowances. Virgin only allows up to 48cm x 34cm x 23cm, so technically this one is too long by 2cm. That seems miniscule to me, but I have no personal experience whether it would matter.

    How strictly do they check the dimensions?

    I see a lot of carry-ons at 55cm long, that seems to be a very common length. Jetstar and Qantas both accept this, but Virgin won't. Didn't realise until now how hard it is to pick the perfect carry-on!

    Am I really restricted to a 48cm length when buying a carry-on? Or do they generally turn a blind eye to a 55cm carry-on (assuming the width and depth comply with the restrictions)?

      Hi Ah,

      In my opinion I don't think 2cm is going to be a problem with Virgin, particularly because the width and depth are under. I think you will find that there are 2 main sizes used by the airlines for carry on luggage:

      105cm = H + W + D
      115cm = H + W + D

      Some airlines like Virgin give you the exact measurements for all dimensions whereas others give you the total linear but generally they add up to either 105 or 115

      The carry-on's you see that are 55cm belong to the 115cm size and although I have seen them been taken on Virgin flights it is possible that they could enforce this rule and make you check the bag in, particularly on crowded flights. Perhaps someone who fly's regularly on Virgin could give you a better answer.

      I hope this helps.

      • Thanks for the info, quite helpful.

        Why do the airlines make it so difficult?!
