Chia Seeds in Sydney

Hi all

I am looking to purchase around 4-6 kgs of Chia Seeds for daily consumption.

Anyone can recommend a place to get it from? Preferably in the Sydney CBD area.

I am prepared to pay for $20/kg.

I have purchased from this company in the past - http://www.omegaplus.com.au/shop/ and their price is $20/kg but you will need to pay postage for delivery.

Thanks heaps!

  • Try Healthy Life on King st - they normally have good deals if you buy bulk. I've seen box of 4 x 1kg the chia co going for about 20 a kilo and i think you can get either white, black or mixed. a few weeks back they had 4 x 500 grams going for 50 dollars - not a bad deal either.

if you sign up for their loyalty program you will also get some cash back.

    • ok great, i might try to find their contact details and give them a call.
      thanks for the tips

update: I just called them up and they are only carrying Australia Chia Company which sells around $30 per kg.

  • Why so much Chia Seeds?

They are good for you but everything in moderation.

    • of course not all the chia seeds in one sitting :) i'll choke to death.

    • Chia is hyped as the new superfood. Super foods in the past include

      Acai Berries
      Goji Berries
      Wheatgrass

all of which went under the microscope and none of them lived up to the hype of being the silver bullet to good health.

nowadays it's Kale and Chia. Most hyped about is how much anti-oxidants chia has, but at $20/KG its' really one of the more expensive ways of getting your anti-oxidant fix.

  • Coles Scoop and Weigh sells heaps, and if theres not enough just ask!

    • Do you know how much per kg? Where is this scoop and weigh? I don't think they are in every store

  • I always buy them from Costco auburn - just under $20 per kg container. they always have heaps of stock.

    • unfortunately i dont own a car and if i need to take a public transport to go auburn, i might end up not saving :)
And i believe costco, you need to be a member first to shop there right?

do you have a brand name that you normally buy from costco?
