Driving license details

Dunno if this is the right place to post this, but anyways..

I'm trying to set up an E*Trade account, and as part of the verification process, they want the details of my driver's license.
They want the "licence number", which is fine, but they are also asking for the "card number".
Anyone know what/where this is on a Victorian driving license? I think I've figured out that its 10 digits, as if I put anything less or more, I get an validity error.

Cheers all.

  • I've just filled out a bank account application form and I had a similar thing. They say it is a NSW specific thing.

  • Thought it might be. Unfortunately, the online application doesn't allow for me to leave that field blank or to enter in an NA option.
    Thanks anyways.

    • You could try putting the license number into card number field and prefix zeroes on it

  • I sign up for accounts all the time using fake numbers because they usually don't actually have a way to verify directly with the rta but the problem your encountering might be that the fake numbers actually have a pattern which you need to figure out, and it helps if you have someone elses number and just change the numbers keeping similar patterns.

For example, if they want your card number its 10 numbers but there the pattern might be that:
they only start with even (or odd) numbers
they don't (or do) have duplicate numbers in it
they don't (or do) have sequential numbers
the 3rd number could be the last number of year of your birth.

etc, but im not sure what the pattern is for that one.

    I'm from NSW.

License number: 8 numbers starts odd, ends odd
Card Number: 10 numbers. Starts even, ends odd

      Davo, Sadly not the case…

My NSW license number starts with numbers and ends with letters.

But I would be a little older than you

      • Mine is the same as Davo, my parents licenses are the same as yours but they have less than 8 numbers

      • yeah, all the "oldies" have 2 letters at the end. ;)

        • Yes and we also have b/w non reflective number plates with less than 6 digits ;)

Mine is 6 digits, ending with 2 letters, from 1978 starting 2….G and it doesn't work when I last tried, requiring 10 digits!!!
It might be an age discrimination thing. If you are young enough to have ten digits, they are want your info and if not go jump!!!!!

    • Card number or license number?
