Best value prepaid for <$30 who uses a lot of data + text

Hi guys

Currently with Aldimobile prepaid, i get 1gb and unlimited texts for $30/month

I was wondering if there is anything for better value for someone who uses 800mb-1gb of data a month and texts a lot? I don't make many calls at all

Cheers

  • Optus have a new prepaid plan. You get $30 for 6 months but recharge starts at $10. Might be attractive to some especially when it's half price at Coles soon… https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/160228

    The rates are:

    $1/day you get:
    30 mins of call
    unlimited national mms and sms
    40mb of data

    $1.50/day
    unlimited national calls
    unlimited national mms and sms
    80mb of data

If you need more data, you can buy it for $2 for 200MB or $5 for 500mb.

So I guess per month, the minimum data you get is 1.2gb, which is only slightly more than what you were getting.

I've started using it recently and I think it's pretty good. I don't call much either and 40mb/day and unlimited text feels generous to me as I was on Amaysim's pay as you go before, using about $10 for 3 months.

    • $2/day (500MB) plan is far better than the 2 you mentioned, but for OP's usage $1/day would be enough (still, that's $30/month)

I'd say Vaya's $18 plan or $29 plan are better

  • Telechoice has same coverage as Aldi but offers unlimited SMS and 2Gb data for $28/month.
Requires at least a 12 month contract though..

Otherwise you have to look at Optus or Vodafone

  • Vaya's got a $18 month-to-month plan. It's not a contract. You just pay for 1 month, and can choose to opt out any time (I believe).

    1.5 gigs internet.
    $650 worth of calls.

…but be warned, their customer service takes terrible to a new level.
