Proximity Sensor Issue - Zenfone 5 from Yatango

Hey guys,

I have a pretty annoying problem on my new phone. It seems as though the proximity sensor is active constantly. This would not be too much of an issue - however, the phone comes with a setting that allows for a special screen, similar to that of Samsung's "S-View" to be displayed while a case is attached. I don't have one attached, however, and cannot exit this screen - which means I cannot run any of the typical fixes that I have attained over the years…

Have any of you guys had such problems? A repair guy I spoke to suggested disconnecting the proximity sensor altogether - which is not really a good option seeing as it will void the warranty and I am not even sure that it is the problem…

I have spoken with Yatango - who directed me to speak to Asus - who directed me to speak to my 'local service center'… however they will be of no use as the phone is not yet released domestically.

This is a really annoying problem, and any feedback or experience is greatly appreciated.

  • This may sound stupid but if you've put a screen protector on the glass that can stuff up the sensor. If you have, make sure the the hole in the protector is aligned with the sensor. It could be something as silly as that

  • Thanks for the suggestion, but I am not using a screen protector. I cannot even begin to understand why the thing is messing up - it's a new phone and I still treat it that way.
