Woolies Everyday rewards 4 week spend promotion - weird emails

Woolies has a targeted 4 week everyday rewards promotion.

Mrs Raccoon got an offer last week of spend $50 a week for 4 weeks starting this week, and the deal being …

get $100 Woolworths discount will be loaded onto your Everyday Rewards card for you to enjoy when you spend $100* or more within 30 days.

Likewise I got the same offer.

We both activated the offer now we both get an email saying

Hi Mrs Raccoon
Congratulations! You're all signed up and ready to make your first shop.

Simply spend $20* in one transaction this week in-store at Woolworths supermarkets to be on track for $50 off your shop. Don't forget to scan your Everyday Rewards card each time you shop.

Happy shopping!
The Everyday Rewards Team

Thats $80 over the 4 weeks with a $50 bonus.
The signed up deal was to be $200 over 4 weeks for $100 bonus

Anyone else get an email with the terms changed?

Not complaining as its going to be easier to reach the $20 a week on 2 cards for the bonus ($40 vs $100), while lower bonus its a better ratio than before. Unless of course they realise it's a mistake and change it.

  • Yes I also got the same inital email and one you got today. Weird!

  • I got the same one. Spent >$20 just now and it appears to be working as per the second offer. So good news..

  • Yep I got a mixup, would prefer first offer though! I have emailed to see what's going on

  • Something similar here too, but the original offer and recent reminder email both had spend $30 each week over 4 weeks and get $50. Though no use for me since I'll be overseas for 2 of those weeks and it only includes in-store purchases.

I rarely read them anymore… Just activate the offer; scan and forget lol

  • Actually, I'd thought my original offer was spend $20 a week for 4 weeks too, so spent a little over $20 on the card to fulfil that, then spent about another $60 not using the card so as not to push the required spend on future offers up too much (was buying for a friend.)

I received an email yesterday regarding my required spend of $50 and thought I'd stuffed up ……. might look into it a bit more.

EDIT I'm glad you posted this RockyRaccoon …. just checked, and it wasn't me that stuffed up after all. phew. Off to email them.

      Now that's interesting.

Guess someone put the wrong "codes" into the system the $50 bonus offers getting the $100 bonus and vice versa.

This could be rather embarrassing and a mess for woolies to fix as many may not read the details of the second one, and not qualify (like in your case, you spend $20 instead of $50)

Others like me who read the second might now spend the $20 as I have read the second email and not qualify if they change it back.

And then those who read both and see the one the prefer as the one to do. ie spend $50 get $100 or spend $20 get $50, which in the end is what they may be better doing. That being if in the first week you spend the $20 min you get $50 and you now have to spend $20 each week, where as if you spend $50 in the first week the bonus is $100 and you have to spend the $50 each week.

Might spend the $20 today so I can argue at least my card should stay at the $20 level.

Haha I want the $50 spend. Too much effort to drag the kids out to the grocery shop for a $20 spend! Going to stock up on coffee pods today while they are still on special!

EDR offers are silly now, Coles do them too but get better ones, so shopping there more and more.

  • I got exactly what you got RockyRaccoon. I've also emailed them to inquire.

I did one and they wouldn't honour the voucher. I spent $100 and the voucher was $10.

I keep getting there emails because there is no opt out on mine?

I didn't see this one but I think its misleading and meant to confuse people. They word it so that people will interpret it as spend $20 get $50 but you actually have to spend $20 weekly for 4 weeks : $80 to get $50

I'm just deleting them coz I am sick of them playing games and I am going to coles.

    • +2

it is coles who started these stupid promos. Go to IGA if u don't want to be involved in these "games".

      • Games are great. Just learn how to use them

I buy staples that are on special, so I stock up on things like laundry powder, bog rolls.

Simply put spending as in your example $80 over 4 weeks and getting $50 means the 50% off $8 laundry powder now net costs me around $5

Biggest "danger" is double counting the discount. Its either saving when you buy or saving when you redeem. Its not both.

and BTW use the voucher only on sale items to max the benefit.

  • My wife and I got different offers originally - mine was Spend $100 over 3 weeks get $30, whereas she got the Spend $50 over 4 weeks to get $100.

I didn't activate my offer as hers made much more sense. Today she got an email saying she was on her way and needed to spend $20 over 4 weeks to get $50. They have seriously messed something up here!

Incidentally, I thought the deal started last weekend, so I made a $100 shop on Saturday, forgot to give the checkout chick the EDR card, realized my mistake but had already paid for it, so I went and bought another $50 worth of stuff… and now I see it doesn't even start till this week! FML!

I got a "spend at least $30 every 4 weeks for $50 off your shop."
But you have to spend the $50 in one go, within 30 days.
    This is hard for me.
And there are very few good specials at Woolies these days, compared to Coles.
Think I will just stay with Coles - their fly buys system is better in some ways.

  • I received an email this morning correcting their error.

  • I also got email correcting error email :)
