Looking to buy a fitness wrist band

Hey all, I had been thinking for quite a long time to buy a fitness wrap wrist band, infact i had ordered a fortis track fit from kogan, but its not what i was expecting the windows program doenst sync properly. yesterday i didn't travel much but it showed that i had taken 4599 steps. I wonder how, so i guess there is something wrong with it. Even the sleep pattern doesn't show up properly on my laptop. i have seen jawbone deal posted here - http://www.dicksmith.com.au/health-fitness/jawbone-up-wristb… - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/160339

Has anyone been using a fitness band and would recommend a good working one, price matters but under $100 would be fine. Health comes first.

Thanks in advance.

I have a Jawbone Up24, and my partner a Fitbit Flex. In terms of step accuracy, I think they are quite similar. The Up24 has a more detailed sleep report though.

I personally prefer the Up24 over the Flex for a few reasons.

    1. Up24 communicates the data directly to your mobile phone app through bluetooth. With the Flex, you'd need to plug in the USB dongle to your computer to get the data transferred across. Which I think is a hassle, not to mention the dongle is tiny and could easily be misplaced.

    2. The Up24 is easier to put on.

    3. I have not needed to deal with Fitbit for warranty issues. But Jawbone's warranty service is one of the most painless warranty experience I've had. Bear in mind, I had no proof of receipt and it was broken because of my own fault.

    • thanks i think i will go for jawbone

The Fitbit Flex syncs to smartphones via Bluetooth. I haven't bothered syncing mine to the computer yet.
These are the compatible phones: http://www.fitbit.com/au/devices

      • ^ this. My friend loaned me a Fitbit and didn't include the dongle which didn't matter, as it syncs directly to my Nexus 4.

Depending on what you want, a Fitbit One might be worth looking at too. It attaches more like a pedometer and then has a wristband to wear while you sleep. Might be worth considering as an alternative to having something around your wrist.

      • Well, you learn something new every day! Thank you for the correction :) Then again, my partner uses a Blackberry, which wouldn't sync with either anyway xD

Maybe wait one more day and see if Apple announce anything at their press conference overnight.

Even if it doesn't end up being what you're after, surely it could only put downward price pressure on the competition…

  • I use a fitbit one which isn't worn on the wrist but I find it quite accurate and you can wear it at night with the included wrist band to track your sleep.

Very nicely integrated with different apps and near bulletproof to match. Put mine through the wash when I first bought it and after taking it out it was still working.

But yes I would wait to see what Apple announce (if they actually do) tomorrow or go on the Jawbone Up24 which a lot of people recommend now.
