Buying from eBay.com and getting it delivered to a USA address!!!

Hiya - I m just trying to buy some stuff (clothes, shoes) from ebay.com (which is easy) and getting it delivered to a friend's home address in USA (the tricky part).. My friend is sending a courier to me anyways, so I was just thinking of clubbing all small items in one box and pay international shipping once rather than for each individual item.

The reason I m unable to do so: Paypal doesn't allow me to add any foreign address to my account. Also, when i bid for an item or buy it, ebay automatically chooses 'international shipping' based on my Australia address. I have spoken to few sellers on ebay.com and they are happy to deliver it to the local USA address but mentioned

  1. Ebay handles shipping for them, so I need to contact ebay after I win it and update the local address with them, so that they directly send it there. Now, knowing ebay and my past interactions with the ebay customer service, I doubt if that's gonna happen. I m afraid, I will have to shell out international shipping after they refuse sending it to any other address apart from the one linked to my paypal.
  2. Few sellers who ship themselves, have agreed to ignore my Australia address and ship items to the local address there.. But none of those guys have ever handled this kind of scenario (and unfortunately, neither have I) and they have put some legit queries to me. Something like, will they be able to update the shipping charges etc on the invoice after I have won/purchased the item. I reckon, this should be possible but have never done it, so thought of seeking help/advice from the fellas here.. :)

Has anyone ever bought any item from or sold to any foreign person but deliver it to a different address than the one linked to paypal? Any other thing that I should bear in mind while doing this sort of stuff?

    ye i think that's how they stop people betting the system. If you eventually get the address rectified, you will surely hit another brick wall in the way of PayPal. They probably won't release funds due to your account being AU, and all credit cards linked to an AU address.

      Create a US account, send funds to it from your AU account, simples

          It's just a transfer between account , lots of people use this to fund a US ps plus subscription off their Aus playstation

    You could try buying from amazon(If the product is available)? From my knowledge they will let you ship anywhere as long as you confirm the address and that you are the credit card holder. Other than that perhaps creating a new eBay and Paypal account?

      Yeah, amazon is great and i use it often..but it unfortunately doesn't ship all the brands here :(

    I dont think there is anyway around it. Paypal is a pain in the a*se to deal with.

    Since you're using Australian card, you can only ship it to Australian addresses and put the order through Australian IP addresses. So what happen if you go overseas and want to buy something off ebay? Well, tough luck

      yes you'll need US bank account and quite possibly US based IP address.

    So, I just bought something over ebay.com to test things out. The seller is pretty nice and has agreed to ship it to the local address, but bummer!!!, ebay is not letting the seller change international shipping costs saying its now gone to global shipping program. Unbelievable!!
    Do we have any work around for this guys??

    Get your friend to order it and send him the money? Paypal might want a percentage to transfer money to your friend though.

    I have added a US address to my AU PayPal account. I did it a long time ago, so I don't remember exactly, but I think it was added as a "gift" address. I used it to buy something and have it delivered to a shipping forwarder (shipito). I don't remember if it was purchased from eBay, though.

    I have alternate USA addresses in ebay and paypal, can't remember any problem (my main Australian address is verified though). Can't you edit the address when you checkout/pay anyway.

    I send stuff to my friend US address..

    just add another ebay shipping address to your account (your friends address)

    make sure to tell the seller you want it sent within the US to whichever state.

    and just pay with paypal

    they will ship based on the ebay address you selected not paypal… paypal is more for billing

    works fine for me

    Thank u. I will add another one to ebay. :) Paypal isnt accepting adding a foreign address.
