Ethernet over power

TP-LINK AV500 TL-PA411KIT $68.00

Are these worth the gamble, given I do not know of the suitability of our electrical cabling, to extend ethernet to other areas in our home?

Thanks

:)

  • Check past deals on ethernet over power — plenty of discussions there every time a EoP deal was posted.

  • You probably won't know until you try I reckon. They say all your powerline devices should be on the same electrical circuit, plus make sure you don't have circuit breakers, plus no extension boards and to top it all off some electrical devices on the same circuit can cause interference.

I bought a 200Mbps kit for cheap and I can't get it to connect over 20 Mbps. That being said, it's more reliable and less latency than my wireless connection. shrug

  • Should be fine, but you'll never know until you buy and try.
