Water filter leakage and labour warranty

So the house i bought came with an under sink water filter but we havent used it for years. Recently i decided to use it so bought their refill cartridges. The company is everpure.com.au, after putting it in I noticed leakage from the tap connector, called their service manager and he said the warranty covers parts but not labour. Apparently I could replace it myself it would require cutting the existing one and I'd need a very sharp knife for it which I dont have (he mentioned stanley knife). He offered to install it for me for $90 but it sounds like a personal deal and not from the company because I asked him if he could provide a tax invoice and he said no. He said typical plumber would cost more so seems like he's doing me a favour. Does this sound right and reasonable?

  • Any pics of the leak area? Hard to say without seeing the fitting.

A stanley knife will be cheap from Bunnings. Less than $10.

The $90 is a cash in hand job without the invoice.
