Just got a Samsung Galaxy S5 from Kogan 5 minute eBay deal. Seal was broken and there's a "Kogan Inspection" sticker on the box

Hi there, has anyone experienced ordering a mobile phone from Kogan where the seal is borken and there's a "Kogan Inspection" on the box?

I am not sure if I got an open-box phone or a refurbished phone. I got the phone from that ebay sunday 5 minute deal. Please advice, thank you.

A lot of phones purchased from Kogan during their eBay deals had been opened already with the Kogan Inspection sticker. Hell my iPhone even had a tiny dent on the top. But its a new phone, don't worry.

  • It's been mentioned before depending on where Kogan source their phones from, they sometimes will open the box and turn on the phone to unlock the phone, or to make sure it's unlocked.

  • Have you tried asking Kogan? That would be my first port of call.

Do you forum people not use the search function? If this was any other forum this would've been closed quick.

  • I'd have thought a refurb would have new replacement security seals on them. Probably used to detect if buyer opened it and get full refund rather than get whacked with a restock fee.

  • One of the techs had to call their mum to let them her that they would be home late from work, so they just borrowed your phone for a little bit.
