Home Theatre Setup

Hi guys,

I recently bought one of the lg home theatre systems posted here recently http://www.lg.com/au/home-theatre-systems/lg-BH7530WB
And I was wondering if there is a problem with connecting a ps3/ps4 to the TV which then goes into the home theatre system compared to connecting the ps3/ps4 to the home theatre system and then the TV.

Thanks!

hmmm it appears you can run it through the home theatre as it has 2 hdmi in and one hdmi out.

Personally, i reckon it would be easier to have all the devices going straight into the tv. Then plug the tv sound out (optical or whatever) into the home theatre.

    • Running it through the home theatre and then the TV seems to give a purple line down the right hand side of my TV but this doesn't happen when I go through my TV to the home theatre.

I agree it seems much easier to have devices plugged into TV and then to home theatre. I'm hoping this doesn't cause any issues with sound quality though.

      • Running things through the TV then have the sound going into your system may cut you off mutli-channel sound formats like Dolby 5.1, many TVs only do 2.0 LPCM passthroughs. All dependent on your gear of course, but this is a strong selling point for receiver based sound systems.

    • If go with sound out from TV with optical you're limited to 5.1 DD or DTS and 2.0 LPCM. Considering the cash spent to get DD TrueHD and DTS Master or 7.1 LPCM, it's a waste of money to not use HDMI.
