Any good deals around on ultrabooks?

Hello fellow OzBargainers

I am in the market for an ultrabook for work purposes.
The main tasks performed on the laptop would be photo editing, internet surfing, Microsoft office and video.
As I would be having to carry it around every now and then, I'd like it to be nice and light hence my search for an ultrabook/ultraportable laptop.

Main features that I'm wanting are:
- 13" FHD or better
- minimum of 2x 3.0 USB
- i5 Haswell or better
- 4g RAM or better

I was initially considering a refurbished Sony Vaio Pro13 from GraysOnline
http://www.graysonline.com/retail/svp13213cgb-r/computers-an…

But I've read several comments advising not to consider refurbished items from GraysOnline.
I personally haven't had any experience from that website.
My current personal laptop is actually a refurbished Toshiba Satellite that I purchased from Wireless1 and I am quite happy with it so far.

So now I am looking at Asus Zenbook UX303LA from saveonIT.com.au
http://www.saveonit.com.au/index.php?url=products/productdet…

Again, I haven't had any experience with this website or have heard anything about them previously so I thought I'd ask the experts on OzBargain for their opinions.

What do you think of these two options?

Are there better options out there?

My budget isn't strict as long as it is a good bargain.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • FWIW, two of my friends have bought refurb Vaio Pro 11 laptops from Grays and have had no problems. They were in very good condition too.

  • Depends what you need it for. Battery life or fast wifi? The Asus has 5GHz ac and Sony only have 2.4GHz bgn etc.

    • The Sony has 5GHz 802.11n.

      • nope doesn't say that on the graysonline page. Could be wrong, who knows.

        • I know, as I had one. It uses the Intel Dual Band Wireless-N 7260 wifi chipset.

  • FHD can be a little hard to read on 13". Make sure your apps can handle very high dpi without sending you.

I've had very good experiences with Graysonline refurbs; with the depreciation on Windows laptops you are crazy to buy new unless you are getting a huge bargain.

  • Bought 2 Sony Vaio Pro13 from Grays, 1 was great as new, the other had many scratches on the cover.

Eventually got partial refund on the bad one though Grays did all they can to argue it's in the fine print there may be imperfections on the laptop.
