You should be aiming for 50% off any sticker price for mattresses . This deal does take the chore out of haggling though , so a plus from me . We have an "Advance" range mattress and it seems ok . The Warranty though is questionable as you need a massive droop in the middle before it's deemed unfit for use . I can't remember what the exact measurement was but I would think you would pretty much be crippled by the time you reached that level of stuffed .

    • Went with friend who was actually planning to get :

Sealy Advance Imperial Support Firm Mattress
      http://www.bedsonline.com.au/products/Sealy-Advance-Imperial…

      Was $1799 now $1399
On top of that use code : SEALY100 for $100 off making final value to $1299 + free delivery

But ended up in getting "Sealy Posturepedic Mattress - Lido Firm - Advance Collection" one as he felt much better on it.

I've never understood why mattresses can be so expensive. Yes, you spend almost your entire lifetime on it, but is it really worth spending over $1K on a mattress (which probably won't last a lifetime)?
To put this into context, I recently purchased a Queen mattress for $200 at Aldi and it is pretty damn comfortable.

    • Depends on your body type and conditioning. If you are a hard core hiker and camper that can sleep well on a themarest or swag mat than I'm sure you don't need a royal comfy mattress. But I'm a big believer I'm spending big on a mattress, 1/3 your life there, even if you need to replace every 10 years.

You're absolutely right. The mattress is a modern day mass marketing success.

    • I wont make that same mistake again, about 7yrs ago we spent $3500 on a Sealy pillowtop mattress which is now absolutely stuffed… i wake in agony every day with a bad back(sometimes to the point of being crippled)!! We are currently trying to get something done about it through their 'sketchy' 10yr warranty, its laughable…. indentations need to be visibly at least 'one & a half' inches deep before they'll even look at it!! What a joke… Im 6'5 & weigh 100kgs+- the indentations are nowhere near that to the eye but lay on it and its like a hammock!
So i for one wont be spending another huge amount like that again and especially wont be buying Sealy ,,│,,
      EVER!

    • Agreed.

We bought a Tempur a few years back, half price of course, so $3600 down to $1800…yeah, it's a great mattress, but a friend got a $400 (delivered) memory foam mattress off ebay shortly afterward that feels just as comfy! Sure, it's only ~20cm thick instead of ~30cm like our Tempur (which may be overkill), but the density of foam seems pretty similar & I can't really feel a difference…she loves it & realistically only paid ~10% of a full priced entry level Tempur!

  • FYI this is not a bargain. Myer run the same promotion every week (45% off RRP) and just change the model/range. That is for WA anyway and considering how Myer operates I would say it is a national promotion.

Same models can be purchased at other retailers for better prices, especially the sleepmakers models. The Sealy ones are somewhat competitive but you can do better at other b&m stores generally.

    • Yeah I was thinking the same when I saw this. Don't go to Myer very often but beds at 40-50% off seems to always be advertised as I'm walking in

      • Its an in joke in the industry that Myer and DJs have been running the same add in the paper every weekend for the last three years.

Myer always does 40-50% off on mattress. But after going through whirlpool, i decided to buy from ozmattress.

  • Since they are always on sale this price is RRP

  • What 'pana' said. Loads of 45% off sales. You'd be mad to pay RRP on a mattress. Was lucky enough to get one through a friend at employee rates. RRP $3,500. Paid circa $1200. 64% off FTW!
