Not on that model, I'm afraid. We were only able to get limited quantities and only for the 30 items listed. For this sale we will not be able to add another item. Thanks

      • No worries.

        Thanks for the quick reply.

Sold. Was looking at this exact model on eBay today for my sons birthday lol. Glad I held out till now.

Thanks OP, great looking watch at a great price :)

      Thanks. Appreciate it.

  • hey rep what about the 8A Colour I will definitely buy that model thanks

    • We had that on sale at $119 and they were all sold in pretty quick time. Not sure if we can get anymore but will try and update tomorrow.

      • Hi Rep, any news about getting the GA-100C-8A back in stock?

        • Not as yet. Definitely nothing locally so I think they might be trying to get an answer from Japan. May take till the end of the day today for them to find out and tomorrow before we can come back with an answer for you. I would guess the price around the $129 - $149 mark.

      • Not adding anything. Just looking at availability as we are completely out of stock. Thanks

I have this watch but in white. It is quite hard to read the time at night as the light isn't backlit but a led. Furthermore the minute and hour hands doesn't glow in the dark. Not sure about this colour though

    • +3

It is quite hard to read the time

Negative/inverted LCD displays are like that. Though they have gotten a lot better compared to Casios of the past, they're still primarily style over substance. If you want visibility in low-light conditions get a G-Shock with a traditional black and white LCD.

The lack of a backlight on Casio's "Ana-Digi" (Analogue/Digital combination) watches is also a chronic problem; all of them have a single, coloured LED at the bottom of the watch face that is only bright enough to illuminate the watch hands at night.

They just haven't been able to miniaturize a backlight that's small enough to fit into the existing housing of an analogue/digital watch (with all the mechanical components and gears) without significantly increasing the size of the watch or the power consumption.

      • +1

thanks for the explanation very detailed, clearly you know lots about watches. I wished they still make the hands glow in dark, making it easier to read it.

  • Any chance of this deal or similar returning in the near future? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/159637

    • Nothing in the pipe line with this model. To be honest no real reason for Citizen to discount this for us as they keep on selling them at the full price. Will definitely try to get some more stock as long as people dont get tired of looking at it. Thanks

      • +1 for $99 sale, just miss that deal and ready to buy decent eco drive for $99 at next sale :-)

        • +2

Thanks. Will try to see if we can get any more stock at $99.

  • I have a similar model and its not bad but the LED on it is horrible. You pretty much cant see the time in the dark.

edit* although my model is this one: http://www.starjewels.com.au/specials-1/g-shock-watches-on-s…

So it may have a better light on it

  • +1

Bought 3 watches from Starjewels in the past (2 Eco Drive + 1 'normal'), always a good deal. +1.

    • +1

      Thank you.

  • Rep, I notice they all seem to be rated to 200m, can you confirm what this really means in terms of there depth rating? I vaguely remember there being some convention used by different manufactures that 200m is more a term of "mostly waterproof" or something like that rather than being actually good to 200m (which is pretty deep!)

    • +1

You are absolutely right. 200m does not actually mean that you can dive down to 200m with it. Water resistant means to what extent the watch can get wet, or withstand the pressure exerted by a specific amount of water. A 200m watch can be worn for standard scuba diving but not deep sea diving.

    • +4

If you're doing scuba diving you'd want a proper ISO 6425-compliant, diver's watch like the G-Shock Frogman series. Watches rated to that standard are put through a series of tests not only involving certain levels of water pressure, but lengthy durations at specified depths, huge temperature variations, condensation tests, underwater shock, salt water resistance, visibility/legibility, and are actually rated to withstand certain levels of overpressure.

For everything else, including snorkeling at the beach, any 100m or 200m rated G-Shock will do. Serious diver's watches cost upwards of $500; you're not going to find one for $96.

  • Rep, How does this size (55 x 51.2 x 16.9mm) fit a small wrist? I have an ESQ E5290 which fits my wrist perfectly. (Case measures 38mm diameter by 12mm)

    • +1

Hi. If a 38mm fits perfectly, the 55mm will be a little too big on you. Thanks

      • +1

I have small wrists and the Ga 110 which is a similar size is a bit big.

  • Hi Rep,
Do you have a shop front. I need to purchase a Seiko OR Citizen ladies watch for my mother but would like to see in person if possible ?

    • From their site:

      Q. What are your locations?

Star Jewels have shut all their bricks and mortar stores and are now completely online. We welcome all our customers to visit us in our showroom to have a look at our entire range. We appreciate appointments as we want to ensure we are able to concentrate on your needs rather than spending time with a few groups. Our address is Suite 802, 109 Pitt Street, Sydney NSW 2000.

      • Thank you.

    • +1

I'm sure all those ripoff B&M watch stores would be happy to "demo" a watch for you… ;)

  • +1

I have similar style g-shock watches. They are excellent and I love the watches and style and this is a great price, though it does annoy me that the backlight is just an LED and not a true backlight like some of the other models.

  • the prices are ok. generally, they r close to Amazon UK's everyday prices (including shipping).

    • +3

From my experience, if we can get prices similar to Amazon then it is considered good in my books because Australian stuff is just so much more expensive -O-"

      • agree.

just a note to someones who just miss it that you always have the chance to buy the watch at a similar or even lower price from Amazon UK.

  • Was just about to buy but looks like its sold out :(

  • Great deal, rep, and I concur with the postive feedback for Star Jewels - only good experiences so far.

Rep, while we have you on line, are you able to advise when the new GA-400 series will be available in Australia, through you. Specifically the GA-400-9A - http://www.casio-intl.com/asia-mea/en/news/2014/ga-400/ ? Likely price?

    Thanks

    • Thank you. Appreciate the feedback. The GA-400-9A should be out before the end of the month. We expect them to be around the $160 - $180 mark BUT that is a rough estimate. Thanks

  • Thanks Rep - thats in the next week!! It would be great to get a deal on them when available - what a neat looking watch ……

  • Got mine yesterday but the LED on this one is really terrible. You can only see hour/minute hands and nothing else. Can anyone recommend similar priced ana-digi gshock with LCD backlit instead of LED?

    • well thats what i was telling people in my comment but i get negged.

    • Sorry to her that. Please email us your order or invoice number on [email protected] and we will send you a Return Authorisation number to send the watch back for a refund. Thanks.

  • How long should delivery take with Australia Post eParcel service?
I received the tracking number on Tuesday, but there's been no updates since Wednesday. Item is still in NSW, while I'm in Perth..

    • Hello. Perth is roughly 4-5 working days so its on track. The next AP tracking update will be something along the lines of 'Parcel arrived in WA distribution Centre' and the last one after that should be 'On board with driver for delivery'. Please give it till Wednesday to be on the safe side and if still not there, please drop us an e mail on [email protected] with your order number and we will get our account manager at Australia Post to chase it up. Thanks
