Cost of audio and home theatre systems

notice how the cost of stereo systems have gone down substantially over the years, but there are some brands that remain at a constant pricing range; these include:

Bose, JBL, Marantz, Yamaha, Pioneer etc. very hard to come by these at a decent price as they boast better 'audio quality' obviously but just wondering why people were so willing to pay so much in the preceding years before.

so what do you think are the best audio system brands to buy nowadays?

  • Akai,Teac,Heisense,TCL - these are the electronic powerhause! Can never buy enough!

  • "why people were so willing to pay so much in the preceding years before."

Have prices really come down, all I see is low end stuff get even more low end and price tags to match. Perhaps software has helped the low-end stuff look more attractive as they begin to have more format compatibility like DTS-HD.

  • actually you're right, plmko, i've noticed how they try to woo consumers with formats like DTS, Digital TRUE HD, Dolby digital true etc…, and also there is a '3D sound' etc. i didn't know TCL was any good? all i knew was that their TV's weren't that great were they? Wharfedale is meant to be quite a good audio brand i think
