Advice on Buying 14" Laptop

Would love some advice.
I need to buy a laptop for my father. The requirements are 14" or smaller, i3 or better and Windows. Price lesser than $800. I've looked at the Lenovo E440 which is about $600. Would you have any other suggestions about models/ shops?

    Basic use… web browsing? word processing? emails? etc.

    you could easily spend around $500.

    Yes, basic use. Would like an "i" processor rather than a Pentium or Celeron though.

      You would be spending an extra $150 just to get the i-processor logo. In a normal day to day scenario, a Pentium is as good as an i3. Save that $150 and get an SSD would give you way better overall experience.
