DickSmith Logitech Boombox + UE4000 eBay Purchasers

Just wondering, what happened to those who purchased from this deal : https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/161342
Speaking specifcally about the people who purchased via eBay, not the Dick Smith site.. as I understand that eBay have different terms and conditions to the home site.

Were you refunded and given free UE 4000 headphones? or what happened?

  • I just saw this thread while looking for another & was in the same situation when I ordered a pair of Sennheiser earphones from the DS ebay store. I tried posting comments on whether anyone had received them in the same thread I purchased them from and there was only one respondent who said he hadn't yet.

After a month of sending emails via ebay to DS, they finally responded.

  • I received the headphones but not the speakers. I'll send them an email today to find out what's happening.

    • They replied today saying it was a pricing error and will give me a full refund, which should have been completed by the 22nd of Sept.

I checked my account and sure enough, I received the refund last week. I just didn't realize it.

They didn't ask for the headphones back, so I guess I got a free gift for their pricing error. Thanks DS!

      • Good on you eug, how are you enjoying the Chromebase? Wanted the black one & thought I'd wait for Amazon to stock it but now with the falling dollar, I reckon it will be more then $400 easily.

        • I actually bought it for my parents. My mom has been using a Chromebook for the past two years, so the Chromebase works great for her on the kitchen island. My dad still uses his Windows laptop and desktop, but had no problems using the Chromebase as he's familiar with Chrome.

The IPS screen is really good. It's bright and vibrant, with excellent viewing angles. The wired keyboard and mouse is messy so I replaced it with a cordless one.

Since she started using the Chromebook I have had zero support calls, after the initial getting-used-to-it period. It just works. The only thing is printing - their old printer isn't Google Cloud Print compatible, so she uses the Win7 desktop if she needs to print. They just bought a new printer that is compatible though, I must set it up one to do GCP day.

        • @eug: That's exactly why I was looking to purchase it for the screen, can't really justify the price of an iMac & this is a similar look for much less. Glad to hear it's going well for your folks, been tracking the reviews of it and they are all very happy to say the least. Hoping they reduce the price on Cyber Monday & our dollar picks up too….fingers crossed.

        • @jdf: My heart sinks when I see our dollar now. I have a list of things I want to get from the US… I shouldn't have kept putting it off!

        • @eug: I know right….in the same boat myself. That teaches me, shouldn't have trusted the 'economic experts' who early in the year thought the dollar would pretty much come close to parity at the end.

  • I was under the impression that eBay had different terms and conditions, so Dick Smith would have had to deliver on the deal ? Did anyone got eBay's input on this after opening a dispute?
