Getting Someone to Rewrite a Novel Professionally

Hi All,

Not sure if such a service existing officially, but I have written a book (fictional thriller) but when I get friends to read it, they love the story and enjoyed it, but all agree that it feels like it was written by a kid in highschool. Would I just need to contact another author and see if they would take on my idea or is there an actual profession or service that could turn my story into professional quality? And yes I understand that most successful authors become that way because of their writting style as opposed to their subject matters and stories. I just enjoy writting and have a vivid imagination and need someone to polish it.

If you are prepared to pay you can employ a proofreader or a ghostwriter to fix your draft; depends how much revision is needed. Politicians and sports stars often employ writers to craft their biographies, speeches, etc., since some of them have little orno skill with words.
If you really love writing, you may want to improve your skills by enrolling in a writing course in order to acquire the needed skills yourself?
    Good luck!

    • Thanks for the advice. So by ghostwriter I'm assuming you mean another author that is simply paid to make the changes as required?
I have tried to work on my polish of the writing, but I suppose I keep falling back to screen writing styles. I can visualise what I want to happen, what to be said and play out. Just writing it so it feel natural is where I lack the natural talent.

  • Why not hire a developmental editor or a beta reader to help you out? If you keep flexing your writing muscles you can edit it to perfection yourself.
Look around fiverr. There are lots of folks offering writing and editing services.
