DSE Canceled My Order, My Account AND My CC Is Suspended!

So I placed an order last night for a Nikon S32, with the YES15 voucher.
I placed it as "Click-and-Collect", from the Roselands store.
This morning I get an email saying my Order has been cancelled and I may not order from DSE anymore due to fraudulent activity!?

I then get a call from my bank saying my card was used fraudulently and had to go through getting it enabled again.

I call customer service, after a 20 minute wait they tell me my order has been cancelled for Fruad (I already knew that, duh) and that my details did not match the details the CC company has on record. So I asked them to confirm my Address and Phone number, and the told me the pickup Stores address and phone number!

So now due to an error in their system, I

a) Don't the $15 discount
b) Can't re-order through DSE since my account is suspended
c) Had to talk to my bank, explain what happened and get my CC re-enabled
d) Now had to go through 3 Auto-payments that where supposed to go through on my CC last night that didn't because it was flagged, and ring each company… you get the idea.

The best DSE could do was "escalate it for a call back" and told me to go in-store and buy it.
So I'm going to the GoodGuys guys today to buy one :)
Never touching DSE again after this!

On the bright side Teachers Mutual Bank where VERY helpful, the lady sorted my CC out straight away, and gave me her Direct Ext and a case number if any of the Auto-payments tried to charge me a Failed to process fee etc..

[Update]:
So after 3 phone calls to their "support"
1) 25 mins on hold, the a lady that read a script said I was in the wrong and a supervisor would call me back,
2) 4 hours later I called back, 45 min hold, different lady after 15mins FINALLY saw the issue, ( addresses the wrong way ) said I should of used payapl instead of CC, and that a supervisor has to call back to fix it :/
3) 3 hours later, on hold for nearly 1 hour, just ended up hanging up.

After my wife pushed me I want to the closet DSE, a very nice gentleman there was VERY accommodating, looked at the emails. Apparently they see this a fair bit :/ He changed my order from "Cancelled: Fraud" to "Cancelled: Out of stock" so I should get an automatic refund in 3-5 days :)
He then price matched the price from the sale + the discount!

I am still waiting on a "supervisor" to call back. If/When I will update this again.

TL;DR
If buying click-and-collect use Paypal!
If you have an issue, DO NOT call the support number, just go to your local store.

  • If others are not having this issue, then you need to consider it could be your end (viruses/spyware etc).

I'd also give the bank a lecture. A credit check from a multinational company shouldn't be triggering these kinds of things.

I don't know, this sounds more like an error in the DSE system… though it may be a once in a blue moon kind of thing…

    • the bank saw the order address and my address switched.
Looks like a bug on their end, as the bank confirm it was incorrect name ( "Shop L95 Centro Roselands, Shopping Ctr" instead of "bohdans" ) and incorrect address.
Also DSE "confrimed" my call back number was the Roselands store number, not the number listed on my account.
Still waiting on a call back, been 3 hours… not holding my breath.

it seems like a DS f**k up to me… and maybe this is also the reason why a lot of people seem to report getting orders cancelled because they cannot verify card details…. if DS puts shipping address as the click and collect store and it doesn't match the billing address then it might pop up as fraud. stupid, i know.

makes sense and i think that is exactly what it is, its how DS allocates stock in there system. rather than allocating it to OP's address the item gets allocated to the store for pickup which then shows up on the transaction as OP wanting to have it delivered to an address that isnt theres

Write a letter. A real, physical, letter.

Address to someone high up in the company, cc'ed to their customer relations. Outline how extremely poorly the company has behaved, how ineptly, how you think this must be an endemic issue, and how you want to see X,Y and Z done to make up for your time and inconvenience. You also want your order.

If you just go to complaints, they will fob you off. You need to go to someone who can make it better, and you need to include someone in the loop that could conceivably come down on the heads of the people who can make it better if they don't deal with it properly (even though their PA will probably junk your letter).

This is a real shocker. agree with the suggestion to write the CEO a letter.

It's not too often I'd use the 'F' word on the internet (well, never, really) but for this it's VERY tempting!

What a monumental stuff-up! This is one of those times that reminds us we should always have a second form of access to our money, and cudos to your bank for getting it sorted so quickly for you.

  • Why bother even shopping at DSE. They are almost a waste of oxygen. Too many stuffups.

    • Despite my comment above I saw a bargain on the DSE eBay site too good to pass up. It was a TV with an RRP of $399 and I bought it for $153.95 delivered. I expect delivery today. It is in the Melbourne Star Track depot as I write this.

Unlike my previous buy from DSE this time the tracking link is working. Even the delivery is looking better. I bought it on Monday 6 Oct and the delivery was indicated for 13th to 15th and now it is nearly here.

Update: The package is on board for delivery. I'll get it today.

  • To all who intend to shopping at DSE online,

My TV order is holding up for 2 weeks.

    Send email got following reply:
1st email, Stock is in back order, no deliver time frame, or please refund
2nd email, stock is no long be back fill, or please refund .

    Then,

    i call,

stock is coming, please wait for email reconfirm dispatch number within 3 days….

So, please think before chick Buy (as you haven't buy anything but trouble)

    • Chick buy? Wait, you can buy girls there now?

Come on Dick, that seems even more dodgey for you then normal!

  • Putting the DICK back into the name SMITH! The customer support is so terrible that i avoid them now, its a shame but can't be helped since they changed hands…

  • Bohdans man, you got royally boned on this order. Good that its slowly getting fixed, but the amount of time it took to get any where in terms of fixing it is appalling.
