Odd Bug with iPad and OzBargain

I've been having this issue for some time and it's a really odd one that only affects ozbargain. I check out a deal from the front page, then when I click "back" on my iPad the site will load the front page from three weeks ago. It always loads the same old front page whenever I click "back" and I have to click the ozbargain logo twice to reload the current front page. Has anyone experienced this before? It was occurring on iOS 7, and even after installing iOS 8 it's sitll occurring. It only happens on ozbargain!

I've experienced that too…and it gets pretty confusing.

Sounds like the device fetching from its cache. OzB site should really send an Expires header to prevent reuse of stale pages.

    • The headers we send out:

      Cache-Control: no-store, no-cache, must-revalidate
      Pragma: no-cache

Of course we send out proper headers. Otherwise users of every other browser/platform will complain about fetching the old cache after back button. Looks like it's an iOS specific issue — I'll take a look and figure out a work around.

        Thanks scotty.

In my case it always goes back to the front page from September 22 (which has a deal with a cute girl in a bikini - not that I'm complaining)

  • I had this problem a couple of times too but it eventually resolved itself. Now I have another problem with iOS8 and iOS8.0.2 which I find really frustrating but it's not OzBargain specific. When I hit the 'share' icon in Safari, followed by the 'copy' option (ie. to copy a page URL), I don't get a paste option when inside a Safari textbox (but it appears in other apps). My workaround is not using this previously useful feature, and copying the URL from the address bar…. I imagine Steve Jobs is rolling in his grave with this travesty!

  • Same issue on iPad. Also requires login again.

    • Just refresh the page every time you press back (it gets annoying, but that's life)

  • Hi, same issue on ip6+ iOS 8.0.2, super annoying, what a piece of crap phone. Any solutions anyone? Everytime I hit back I am logged out and have to press log in again !

    "Odd Bug with iPad"

The Virus is called Apple iOS, I suggest you remove it immediately .

  • I have added some Javascript code to handle pageshow event on iOS to force-reload the page when Back is pressed. I don't currently own an iOS device so maybe someone can test whether it resolves the issue.

    • Still experience the bug on my ios8 iPhone 4s. Have to refresh the page if I press the back button from a deal
      Back to the main page
