So Much Business from Forgetful Customers?

After having to follow up on Bank overcharges and a replacement headphone that was not sent back to the distributor- I wonder how much $$ businesses get from forgetful customers or customers who simply can't be bothered chasing up money they are owed.

I've also noticed pricing 'errors' at Coles or Woolies are always in the store's favour and these occur pretty much every time I go shopping.

I have a habit of checking my receipt from Coles/Woolworths.

Got a fair few freebies when i go back to the service counter.

Forgetful ? Or more like they make it so hard you just give up.

    "It's just $5, who cares"

  • As @snappy1234 mentioned and you'd expect most members here would know, if the item is overpriced, take it to the the Service Desk and get a full refund and keep the item.

It has happened a few times to me but not very often.

It's only at very large stores or just Coles and Woolies. Groceries. Not many people would bother with it, and who knows sometimes they take a while to correct it. Maybe they have to update the database so you could probably go back in and 'buy' again but more and get them all free. ;-p It is their mistake.

Clicking on this post I assumed it was about forgetting orders, and if they aren't sent they still get charged but forget about ordering it, so the dodgy stores keeps the money. Can imagine this happening more as online shopping becomes much more mainstream and frequent.

Just gotta keep track of it all in a spreadsheet or something.

  • the prices of veggies, change often and are not updated in system. I have noticed a difference once which was almost 33% up the sticker price but only realised once I reached home. Although I have not taken it back as it would have not compensated my visit to coles again.

Now that I think I may actually ask them to compensate the travel expense as well :p

If you are correct they usually refund you and give you the product for free.

Protip: Check receipt before you leave the store!

      • Lesson learnt :D
