Blueberries 125g $1.99 @Aldi from 8/10 - 14/10

880

Just popped into an Aldi & saw they have the 125gm pack of Blueberries for $1.99 from today till the 14th. This is a bargain as my local Woolies is now selling them for $4.98. Sorry I didn't have time to take a better picture.

Since it is on the catalogue it should be Nationwide.

      False and misleading title !!!

    • Thanks, just corrected that.

good for you JV, mine still says 4.98.

      • you should move house, you're obviously living in the wrong area for bargains…

    • umm and that's fresh, not frozen.

  • I was in an Aldi Supermarket once, and bought a exceptionally cheap packet of fresh Snow Peas. My surprise came afterwards, when I noticed they had come from China.
Frozen Blueberries will come Argentina etc., and they are large and sweet. I am not so sure about agricultural standards though.

    • I wouldn't be too worried. There might be some exceptions but China generally exports better quality food products (making higher profits comparing to their local marketprice) and leaves the not-so-good ones in their local market. (I have a few Chinese friends in import/export businesses.)

Also keep in mind that most electronics are made in China nowadays including those Designed in California phones…

and we know how the lack of quality control drops the standards for products…

    • Plenty of frozen fruit from China. Even the normal price kills local. But I dunno man. With my understanding of their insane pollution & all… I pay the extra for local.

And that doesn't even go into the whole 'support our farmers' theme.

Woolies, then Aldi, so next weeks coles? It must be!

yum, just ate a pack. These were from a mob in Woolgoogla (NSW). Tasty and sweet, nice and firm yum. Beats those crappy chinese frozen ones with the little pips in.

My son is obsessed with blueberries. This is great news! I went down and got some today for him. Our local IGA sells them for $8.99 it makes me sad when I always say no to him because they are too expensive :(

    • +1

They are yummy aren't they, they have always been frightfully expensive but I stocked up during the Woolies deal and I was delighted when I saw them at the same price again today and now have more than a day to go out and buy them.

I would strongly suggest anyone that believes food manufacturing in China is devoid of issues, to watch some of the videos in that link.
Feel free to choose your own, as to avoid any bias I may pertain :)

  • Not good. Small and sour. You get what you paid for imo.

Mmmmm, small and sour. And firm, I presume? Thanks, I'll have to pop by and buy a punnet.

You could, if you like, leave them for a few days. They'll taste sweeter. Fresh fruit is never particularly sweet. It always sweetens (and softens) as part of the decay process.

  • They were $2.98 in a local IGA the other day

  • Why do we need to eat blueberries?

    • +2

      because they're $1.99

    • +1

      Because they tast DIVINE!

At $16/kg, the frugal part of me could hardly buy it. More of a luxury 'fruit' item for me, personally.

  • Since it is on the catalogue it should be Nationwide.

Sadly, from past experience this is not always the case. There was an Aldi specials ad in my local paper (Ryde NSW) and there was no mention of blueberries in the fresh food specials :(

Edit: Has anybody from NSW seen the blueberries on special at their local Aldi?

    • Hopefully someone has, as the pack I got was from NSW.

    • Was at Aldi on Sunday and they did have them! It was also on the catalogue (I didn't have one earlier in the week when this deal was posted). Not sure why it wasn't included in the local paper ad.

      Thanks OP :)
