Enough Time for Transfer to Connecting Flight?

Trying to find a flight from the Gold Coast to Christchurch and I have found the following with Virgin Australia: Gold Coast to Sydney, then Sydney to Christchurch

Its a single journey and not two seperate flight bookings, with a transfer in Sydney from Domestic Virgin Australia to their partner Air New Zealand

Depart: Gold Coast 06:00 AM
Arrive: Sydney 07:30 AM
Depart Sydney 09:30 AM

For the transfer from Domestic to the international flight, does the transfer allow enough time or should I be prepared to run once I land in Sydney?

Is it easy to get a transfer from domestic to international when at Sydney airport?

I have chosen this flight in particular even though their are direct flights as it arrives at a time suitable for me.

Cheers

Yes.. if the plane leaves/arrives on time..

Otherwise you might have a baddd time. Maybe check in online for the Air NZ flight before you leave Brisbane to save time?

Check in for the international flight will happen at the Gold Coast airport and bags will already be tagged all the way to Christchurch so they don't need to be collected in Sydney.

You should easily have enough time. We generally won't sell flights as a connecting option if there isn't enough time.

It is easy to get a transfer when you arrive in Sydney. Just make your way to gate 46 and the staff will be expecting you and arrange everything for you.

You can read more here, scroll down the page to "Domestic Check-in Connecting through Sydney".

You should be fine. (As long as the Gold Coast to Sydney flight isn't delayed…! )

They are both star alliance airlines so your luggage will be tagged through. It's possible that you could check in online for air NZ and you can print your boarding passes at home before you travel. That way you can go straight to security at Sydney international.

Thanks for the comments and flight just booked! Definately feel more comfortable with knowing the transfer wont be too painful.

Woah, woah - no one said here that transferring won't be too painful - you're still transferring in Sydney! A wondrous airport where domestic and international terminals basically reside in different suburbs…

minimum connecting time at SYD is less, but depends on which airlines are involved.

Have had clients flying BNE/SYD with a 90 minute connection to United (we suggested longer but they wouldn't listen). BNE/SYD flight late, United left without them. We don't sell United anymore.

United knew they were coming, but they were apparently 5 mins too late. Suspect united were overbooked anyway.

Clients had to fly back to BNE & do same next day.

So SYD can be a nightmare esp when weather comes in.

SO we try & avoid awful SYD at all costs.
