What Do You Consider The Worst Bargain?

My mates and I have recently been having a discussion about what item that regularly comes up on Ozbargain do we consider the 'worst' bargain.

Before anyone decides to put a comment along the lines of:
'I think "insert product" is always a good deal because I use that product'
'Anything that is free is a bargain'
'The worst bargain are the ones where you can get it cheaper elsewhere'
'But I love cheap Eneloops, oh wait they are not on the list…'
'I like chicken, I like liver, meow mix, meow mix, please deliver'
I realise this, and that every bargain is in the eye of the beholder(or receiver in this case), however we were interested to see what others thought on this matter (there may be a bet riding on this, however, as they will see this post I won't get away with influencing what I consider the 'worst' bargain).

Finally, no-offense to those that post these bargains, they obviously rate highly for a reason.

Cheers

Well Udemy is on my block list…. but i've never done one so i can't really vote for that.

It would certainly be interesting to see the most blocked stores by users.

Huh, I had absolutely no idea we could block stores.

You learn something new every day……

yep, just click on the deal, under the expiry there is a "hide" option

Price line sells 50ml CK Eternity for $37, so I went to Pulse Pharmacy to buy 100ml for $40, thinking it was a bargain…. Then I get the catalog at home from Chemist Warehouse, discounted to $24.99, I was like damnnnn… Went back to Pulse to get a refund, don't do refunds on change of mind… Damn they should of given me a hint when I purchased it. Oh well.. still cheaper than Priceline.

Still a bargain?…I won $90 on the pokies also.. does that count?

    • Damn they should of given me a hint when I purchased it.

What, hint you that their competitor was selling it cheaper?

Worst bargain is buying COD:GHOSTS for $5, I didn't believe the person that sold it to me, that it's that bad. It's horrible.

I think the worst bargains are the ones that cost you a lot of time and in the end you might not get anything from it, e.g. DSE special deals, website crashes, promo didn't apply, spend lots of time trying to speak to a person to resolve it, thinking it's resolved, find out a week later it hasn't been… you get the idea. ;)

I hate to lottery style bargains when COTD or somewhere has a deal starting at a certain time with limited stock and no matter how fast your internet is and how fast your clicks, its always sold out before you can go to check out. I have spent many hours wasted and never managed to secure anything, so I just ignore them now.

or OW and HN - no stock of advertised specials and stock miraculously appearing the moment the specials end.

    • We don't have "specials" at Officeworks

      • BS. I've seen OW clearance items posted here. The prices of those items are reduced, aka "specials".

        • Clearance items are not specials. They have been reduced as they are no longer going to be stocked. "Specials" imply that the price of an everyday stocked item has been reduced for a specified period of time, after which the price will revert to the pre-"special" price.

        • Semantics.

          "Lowest Prices"

          Sounds better than

"Low-ish Prices Until We Discount Something On Clearance That's In No Way Special Or You Want Us To Price Beat"

eneloop batteries… seriously I'm sick of them. They're ALWAYS half price somewhere

I hate the free smart phone apps and ebooks, all the digital things that I don't have interest in.
I swear they're only free because no one wants them. Seeing their deals is spam to me.

The bargains where something is discounted and you buy it even though you don't even need it.

I went into Bakers Delight and saw a 'Special - Pizza Rolls $2 Each or 2 for $5'.True story!!

Udemy by far. It's free to sit and listen to someone with no knowledge of a subject talk smack to you about it.

  • Udemy simply because all those courses should be free anyway plus most of them are pointless. Also a lot of Rep deals because most are not even bargains

  • ezi buy was such a time waste :(

  • wouldnt it be the lenovo sales

you pay them and then you have to chase them up for weeks at a time to get your money back?
