Great app, can do all sorts of things:
you can set it up to enable the ringer volume by sending it a txt message from another phone, great if its on silent and you can't find it.
If you lose your phone you can send it a txt and it will enable the GPS and send you a txt with its location.
You can get your phone to enable wifi, turn off ringer etc when the GPS detects you are at a certain location - home, work etc.
The possibility's are endless, there lots of pre-made automation's to download.

For this task in particular, wouldn't the free Google-run Android Device Manager do a better job?

    • Hold on… If -I- can do those things by SMS or eMail… that could mean -others- could do that, too.

(NSA, et al. might like to turn GPS On…)

Whats the normal price & how does this compare to TASKER? Does it do anything tasker can't?

    • I know there is a Pressy plugin which isn't on Tasker, but it didn't work when I was testing it. AutomateIt is way more user friendly and works as well as Tasker. I will purchase this with my Rewards credit, thanks OP

  • Another good automation app is Situations. Changes various phone settings based on a variety of triggers. I have it do stuff when I get in the car, or when I'm at work, or at certain times of the day.

  • I've tried many of these over the years. I own this app, plus Tasker. I have moved on from both of those and now use Automagic. It's amazing. You owe it to yourself to give it an hour (you can get a free version from the website).

  • I'm currently trying out AutomateIt free version and the thing that doesn't make it so user friendly is that I can't set a time period under the same rule. I have to create 2 rules: 1 to start it & 1 to end it. Does the Pro version do this?

Eg when I'm at work I want 1 rule to set the phone to vibrate and turn wifi off between 9am-5pm. Can the Pro version do this?

mate.. its $0.99 - buy it and figure it out, it's cheaper than a cup of coffee, or a bottle of water :)

    • Automagic is super user friendly and much more powerful. You create flow charts to make the rules.

  • Been wanting to check this out. For 99c I can't say no. Thanks.
