Xbox One questions

I'm much more of a playstation guy so haven't really kept too update to date about the Xbox One

Looking at the Halo Master Chief Collection has made me really want an Xbox One

I absoloutely 100% want a white one rather than the black, but the only white one I can find is the Sunset Overdrive bundle which appears to be an exclusive of EB Games.

As far as I'm aware the halo xbox bundle isn't coming to Aus, at least anytime soon..?

So the main question..

Is EB Games the only place to get a white console before christmas? If so I imagine the price wouldn't change too much before christmas? I don't mind paying more for the white one

  • Wow you really want the white one eh, I have a feeling the EB exclusively will last perhaps around a month at max after Sunset Overdrive comes out, JB and Dick will probably want to jump on the white bandwagon too.

Where did you hear about the Masterchief bundle not coming to Aus? I highly doubt MS would miss such an opportunity to move Xbox One's down under, however I do see the concern as the games only a month away and we haven't seen the Collection bundle being advertised, but it did just get announced, so there is hope.

Id say wait a few more days and see if the bundle does come here, it probably will, otherwise yea end of year is probably your best bet.

    • Thanks for the reply :)

Alright so it's not a permanent exclusivity deal which is good to hear

I didn't hear that it wasn't, just not that it is and figured it would have been announced by now as you said.

Well the sunset bundle isn't out until the end of the month anyways so I suppose if I haven't heard anything by then I'll just grab the SO bundle from EB.

      • All good :D! I'm not too sure about the EB thing, I just have a feeling, hope you don't make any plans based on it, however yea its probably best to wait till the end of the month, which isn't too far! To see what's happening with DSE and JB!!

        • I guess it would be pretty odd for EB to be the only one selling the white one. If it comes to to release date for the SO bundle, would there be any worry of it selling out and not being able to get a white one as I noticed it says limited edition?

        • @jumpo:

Nah I doubt it would run out that quick, you could always reserve one 2-3 days just before launch at your local EB, I think they allow you to pre order console bundles too, that should take care of any potential run out problem!

But personally I have a feeling Sunset Overdrive is going to flop, it was interesting back at the start of the year and probably should have launched in March, now there's just too many interesting games in this sep-dec period, I hope I'm wrong because I really like Insomniac, however it's a little weird how MS have stacked their exclusives, SO and Masterchief both with white bundles Coming out just days apart? Maybe MS don't believe in SO too much either.

        • @Zylam Marex: That's a good idea I'll probably do that

I have no idea what I feel about the game anymore. At launch I was excited for Ryse and SO, Ryse flopped and now watching SO gameplay the game just doesn't get me excited. Think it'll be something I have to try for myself to see if I like it

Any other exclusives to X1 you'd recommend that are coming out before the end of the year? I've got a good pc and ps4 so that rules out quite a few also

Currently I'm looking at picking up Forza Horizon 2 and Masterchief Collection

        • @jumpo: Yup I know how you feel, I was really excited for SO, the bobbing around lines and fast pasted action with beautiful colours was really interesting at the start of this new generation and because we were all excited for the new gen it felt like something fresh and I bet everyone with a One at launch would have snagged a copy of SO at the start of the year but now it seems to have lost its fun, a shame really, they waited too long and killed their own game.

And with Masterchief coming out like literally two weekends later, i think MS has lost faith in SO too, but still have a play with it if you grab a SO bundle, it might turn out to be crazy fun! And yea as someone's mentioned below, if its not great just get rid of it and the difference to Masterchief would probably be around the 20 dollar mark which for 4 games isn't too bad!

I just picked up Horizon 2, been playing for about 3 days and the racing's awesome but so far I feel like Horizon 1 had a better festival feel to it, 2 is a little weird with the structure of how the festival is but its a minor gripe, the racing's awesome!!

Did you try Destiny on your PS4? I was crazy excited but has to be the most disappointing game ever, I sold my launch copy just yesterday and couldn't be happier!!

        • @Zylam Marex: Definitely feel the same way about SO

I never actually played Horizon 1 which is why I want to try 2 because reviews say it fixed the issues with the first one. Also been really wanting a new racing game haven't had one for ages

I didn't play Destiny because I've got satellite internet so can't do any online gaming, and as far as I'm aware you can't really finish Destiny without other people, and my net probably wouldn't let me log in half the time :(

  • if you traded in the copy of sunset overdrive and price matched the master chief collection, you'd probably be paying maybe $20 out of pocket (actual cost might be over or under)

    • That's a good idea might have to do that thanks

  • Why don't you wait for a Halo bundle to come along? Im sure the console will be in pretty colours.

    • Just because I'm unreasonably excited for the Halo Collection so if the bundle isn't coming out at launch I don't think I'll be able to wait

      • I did the same thing when the Xbox One came out. I had to have it on launch night.

Ive probably turned it on twice in the last month, and only actually played it once.

        • haha exactly the same with my PS4 xD I'm just waiting for Persona 5

        • I've been claiming this the whole time since its release, but people seem fit to neg me:

A gaming console is only as good as the games on it, as much as Microsoft hope to claim that it's an 'entertainment PC' with no PC inside. Wait until some actual releases. Titanfall was their 'be all and end all' next gen shooter that nobody seems to have talked about for the past 6 months.

You shouldn't be so eager. When the games come, the price will drop, and they'll probably make the white one a choice, rather than a special.

        • @FrankMcFuzz: I just don't really mind if it sits there waiting for exclusives, I'm going to get them all eventually anyway and 4 halo games will keep me occupied for quite a while :)

  • The white Xbox One Halo Collection looks like it will be selling only in Brazil and a few other countries which MS has not stated yet. It doesn't even look like there's a US release for it.

But here are my points of opinion.

1 - Unless you keep the box, there is no point in hoping it comes out in Aus or ordering it online from overseas. It's the white console with the game and nothing extra.

2 - Getting the EB white SO console exclusive bundle for $500, you're pretty much getting Sunset Overdrive for free. So sell it or trade it and you'll be up.

3 - So I would get the SO white bundle and just buy the Halo collection on Nov 11.

I'm sort of keen on the Halo collection but then again, they ruined the Halo Anniversary edition for me on 360.

    • yeh the bundle doesn't seem to add any value aside from halo instead of SO but not a big deal

How was Halo Anniversary ruined? I haven't played it, only 2 and 3 and love the look of the HD 2

      • Well it didn't have the same feel and most of all, they didn't have all the maps etc, but added a few others. I bought a Xbox just for 1st Halo. Nearly every weekend we would have a 4 to 16 Halo LAN party. TVs and projectors throughout the house, everyone yelling. Aah, miss those days. And I guess because of those memories, the Anniversary edition didn't cut it because of those game changes.

        • Ah I see, that's basically why I want it so much is just the memories of playing Halo 2 for the first time and playing halo ce at school during class :P

        • -1

@jumpo: Keep in mind, Halo 2 is the only one getting a next gen remake, as all the others were on 360. Halo 2 is the only remaining Xbox one one that will be upgraded for Xbox One.

          See what I did there?

The others are only getting very minor touch ups. And it's pretty much a d!ck move that they ommitted Reach in 343's bias preference for 4. And nobody else's preference. Reach, which is Bungie Prequel Canon, and 4 which is the sticky-taped on reboot of 343's design.

Do the quick time event to save da erf.

I just don't get why they don't throw every Halo game in there, Reach, Halo Wars, ODST, and that crappy dual-stick cash-in to boot.

          Oh wait. Capitalism.

        • @FrankMcFuzz: They are all 60fps and around 1080p though correct?

          Hmm I haven't played either reach or 4 so I won't know what I'm missing :D

        • @jumpo: You'll still know you're getting a mediocre game when you get half way through 4 and find out that 343's only contribution to the fantastic sci-fi universe was "Add in robots"
