Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 defective? [solved]

So I was drawing some random stuff in Autodesk sketchbook and I noticed that I couldn't draw a straight line in a particular area. So I tried again in S note, and tried drawing straight diagonal and vertical lines using a ruler, and this is what I got

Is the tablet defective? Is it something that I can do or will I have to get a replacement/repaired?

If you root your tablet you may be able to sort of 'recalibrate' it

but this 's-pen' drifing is apparently a very common flow on Samsung Note devices. My brother's Galaxy note II phone also has a small portion of the touchscreen (lower right hand corner) ignoring the s-pen completely and drifting a few pixels off in the six o'clock portion.

Is there anything magnetic underneath that area?

    • :O I think you solved it! I just took off the Note cover book (has a magnet), and the lines dont drift anymore. A little annoying however.

      Thanks eug and scrimshaw

      • Good to hear. :)
