      Genuines are superior in quality, and far less prone to broken pins or piercing the rubber bands with sharp edges. I can personally verify this. I guess it doesn't matter as much if your children don't intend to make anything complex, but it does make a huge difference if you go beyond the basic patterns and start making charms etc.

      I would also recommend genuine bands as well. They are more durable in complex designs and far less toxic. I've had recurring headaches when I was using a non-geuine brand from a major craft retailer which I will not name.

      I'm thoroughly enjoying the heavy markdowns. I still make a bracelet every week as a form of meditation.
