Take your Broken iPhone to Apple shop and pay lowish fee for replacement

Hi Guys,

I have done this before with a iPhone 4, it was dropped so bad it wouldn't turn on. Took it to iPhone shop not wanting to pay full price again for the device.

The Apple salesperson (im not calling them that stupid name) striaght away looked at the phone and said do you want a replacement for $369 (this was in 2012)

Now I have a iPhone 3gs and was wondering if this would be possible to do the same but upgrade to a iPhone 5 and paid whatever the amount is (hoping its cheaper than $400)

PS. I know I should just contact the store but they have not got back to me and I sent the request in 8 hours ago.

EDIT: Apple got back to me, you have to have the same model phone for replacements :( wishful thinking on my part. Guess you might get lucky if you got a crusey salesperson

    Well, I thanks that is a bit obvious that you can get only the same model for replacement.

    If you paid $369 for an Iphone 4 replacement in 2012 you were ripped off, because they were only $220 at that time.

    Just clicked the link posted by tinx, and see the 4s replacement is now $25 more expensive …. doesn't really make sense on an increasingly aging phone.
