I did it in September last year. To kill the boredom at Nadi I took along my iPad and bought a sim there to use to while away the time at the airport.
The seats were not too bad - I am 5'11"".
Will definitely be doing it again next year

How much is the cheapest direct flight?
I did this back in the day when it was called Air Pacific and never again. The stop over was in the middle of the night and was a PITA to get off then have to board again etc.
But if it's 50% of the cost of a direct flight (like Virgin or Qantas) and money is tight then maybe it'll suit you.I still have no idea why people would even remotely risk anything by flying these questionable airways.
They can't be too questionable if they code share with qantas.
Stopovers are during day and fare is 1k return. Pretty good.
plan ahead for Nadi, its a tin shed in the middle of nowhere with no mcdonalds or anything you will remember.
they have a place that looks like a tuckshop that sells microwaved hotdogs.
bring a media device and a bag of lollieswhen were you there last? i think its improved a bit. and maccas is a 15 minute drive..
So no problems with leaving the airport for a quick look around? Is luggage checked through to La from Bris.?
yea if you have a long enough stopover during a reasonable time i would definitely head out. there's a small complex 5 min drive with a supermarket/bakery and Department Store. Nadi town is 20 minutes drive and Denarau Island 25 minutes away.
not sure about the luggage though..
Luggage went through when I went across both ways.
The only issue if you have to clear immigration/customs which can take a bit of time and will eat into your layover time.
