On other deals it was investigated, and the only way to unlock asap is through Vodafone for $75 or wait six months for that to be $25. No 3rd party/dodgy/other ways

True for most, but ok for people who also don't get good Telstra and Optus. In some cases Voda even has better service. I know, God bless them.
I complained to Vodafone saying the when purchased it didn't mention it was locked or and fee to unlock so got them to waive the fee. (they said they would get DS to update their site but still hasn't happened).
Nice phone only real missing features are: 4G, Camera Flash, and light sensor (to automatically adjust the screen brightness). For Under $100 cant go wrong !
No front camera as well of you want to use it for skype,3G calling. Apparently there is a Lumia 630 as well
