Payment on International Sites Using Australian Cash

Hi Guys,

This is my first post to Ozbargain, normally post to whirlpool but I think this is more relevant. In any case I have my heart set on a Moto X (Customised) sold from a US Site and the Nexus Player. Both these products are unavailable in Australia and I would like to get them forwarded to Australia using a shipping forwarding service. The only problem is that Australian Credit Cards are not accepted and I am having difficultly paying. I have been suggested to use Amex but don't want to sign up just for one purpose. Virtual Cards are also an alternative but the fees are often upwards of 20%. Thinking of using Auspost Rechargeable Card too, but not sure if it will work.

So looking for suggestions, I understand there will be fees involved but what is the best way of approaching this without spending insane amounts?

Thanks Guys.

  • Surely a Citibank Visa debit would work?

  • I believe the main issue is the associated address on the card and from what I can see the Citibank Card is still Australian Address and will not work - unless anyone else has tried on the Google Play Sore / Moto Store?

Use Borderlinx concierge service. They will pay using their credit card and you have to pay a percentage of the goods price for it. They are forwarder too so can get it delivered to your address. I have used the service because as we all know prices in Australia are crazily expensive. Even with concierge fees and delivery, it's still end up cheaper.
