Dettol soap refills for auto dispenser unit

Are they ever on sale? I bought the unit when they are on sale last year and kinda regret it now. Those refills are expensive but seems a waste if I throw away the auto dispenser unit and just switch to regular hand liquid soap bottle.

I use to have one, the machines crapped out after 1 year but wat I did was use a screwdriver to wedge the lid off and refil it with my own soap. Try that. It's not suppose to be removed but u can

    • Cheers. So after removing the lid off using screwdriver , did you have trouble putting it back on? I guess they are designed to prevent us from trying to refill the refills lol.

      • nope

been doing it for a year
its got a knob that's hooked over and u break that hook but cause its on the bottom the weight of the liquid keeps it in place

        • I see. Thanks

  • Also Costco had the best prices for refills

    These little units a handy.

I just drill a hole in the top of the refill bottle and plug it with a cork. Then just refill it with a bulk liquid soap.

Beats paying $7 for a 200ml or so refill.

I use a screwdriver to slide in the gap and pop the cover open then refill it myself.
First time may be tricky so put a pair of gloves to protect your hand. Once you know the trick, it is easy.
Coles big refill $3 when on special and refill for 3 times. Instead of $7 each.

+1 I do the same thing and hassle the missus for buying the replacement cartridges.

She has found them on sale before, but not very often. Buying the big bottle of whatever your choice of liquid soap dispenser is and filling it up is the more economical plan.

    • Cheers. I never get to see them on sales at Coles. Must have missed it

Just use a wide flat screwdriver, work your way around the cap then it just pops off/fill up with liquid/push the cap back on till it clicks in place.

I drilled a hole in the top, rinsed out the drill "debris"… and then have been refilling last 12 months..
I cover the hole with clear sticky tape… can't really even see it unless you're looking closely ;)

  • Thanks guys for all the input. Screwdriver seems the way to go since I don't own a drill machine. Using a knife might be a little dangerous.

Even more economical, Datso has empty pump bottle for $2.80. Dilute handwash with water, the pump will produce foam instead of pumping liquid. Good for OCD and save.

    • the automatic ones are good for the kitchen
especially when u are handling meat and don't want to touch anything!

only bad thing is that it dispenses a lot, if only u can control it

      • Yeah I love the touchless feature.

But thanks for the Daiso advice. They have good cheap products for everyday home use.

        • yeah daiso is pretty good
very good prices and some things are made in japan!

The Dettol soap refills (250 ml) for the automatic dispenser are on sale at my local Woolworths (Morley, WA) this week (until 29 Oct), not sure if it's nationwide or not. Not much of a discount though - only reduced from $6 to $5.01.

    • thx
