Great work Rep. I am finding it hard to resist buying one of the Protreks, would be handy for when I go out on random mountain bike trails and don't bother bringing a map!

Any chance of some G-Shock Solars at some point? As much as I like the Protreks, not everyone needs/wants all the extra sensors, and my experience of the solar powered G-Shocks has been great.

  The Protek/Pathfinder models are all solar-powered.
  
  Go for it, the PRGs are very useful and simple to use. The only real alternative's Casio's ABC watches (Altimeter/Barometer/Compass) are either the new G-Shock Rangeman (which is basically G-Shock + Protek) or Suunto's Core series (which are far worse in aesthetics, user interface and durability imo).

  My Pathfinder PAG-240 needs to see about 20-30 minutes of sunlight every 4 months (and that's a generous estimate; I believe the manual recommends 30 minutes of charging every 6 months). The battery level has dropped below "High" maybe once or twice in the 4 years that I've had it now. The newer generation of Proteks/Pathfinders have more efficient solar cells and use less voltage to run.
  
  I've got an assortment of G-Shocks as well, two of which are solar-powered (GW-9300GB and GW-3500B), and they have been as reliable as a Swiss train.

      To make things clearer prg-260g and prg-550g comes with usual rubber band plus one extra cordura nylon strap. Sometimes this will be refered as cloth strap.
