Socceroos Away Jersey $79 at Rebel Sport (10 day sale ends 24/09, normally $130)

130

Been to Rebel Sport today and I discovered a 10 day sale for the Socceroos away jersey for $79, which is $50 off the normal price of $130!

It seems like they're also selling the same jersey online:
http://www.rebelsport.com.au/ecom/rebel/product_detail.aspx?…
but they'll charge you about $10 extra for shipping. Other last-season jerseys such as Chelsea, Man Utd etc. are also going for $79.

NOTE: This sale ONLY applies to the away jersey (navy), not the home jersey (yellow) :(

I've asked a sales lady to check the sizes for me and I 'accidently' saw on the computer the actual cost for what Rebel Sport is buying them at, which is $64, a 100% mark up from the normal price of $130! Seeing that current jerseys, whether it's NRL, Premier League, A League, a new jersey costs around $140-160.

By the way, if you think $79 is still expensive, I bought a 2006 World Cup jersey for $75 from a Rebel Sport outlet in Harbour Town Melbourne two months ago, so it's really unlikely that they'll lower the price even further.

  • I'm guessing they will be getting a new away jersey soon. Still, it's a good price and supporting the Socceroos is always good.

    • Yep, I went to a Nike store a while ago and the sales lady said they'll get new stock sometimes now. Apparently it's not much different from the current kit.

Just look at what kind of templates Nike has put out for the 09/10 season for clubs and stuff and you'll get a good idea of what the Socceroos' jerseys will look like.

I strongly protest the pricing of official sports branded products in general.

That said, it's either buy the official stuff, or look like this nublet.

    • The prices are indeed ridiculous. (And I'm someone who defended the RRP of the PRPS jeans the other day on OzBargain!)

    • If you look closely at the label on top he's wearing official licenced Major League Baseball merchandise!

No doubt the tape over the player name/number is some sort of in-joke we're not privy to! ;)

    • yeah I know! But that's the money you gotta spend if you're a real fan. I guess if everybody had one of these shirts it wouldn't be that special. I just think that they should be seriously made cheaper - hardly anyone's buying until they drop the price so why not drop the price in the beginning and get more sold?

And selling them at ridiculous prices creates opportunities for fakes and rip offs. Urgh… I got one off eBay a while ago. While I did get a refund for that, I was so disgusted by these ppl…

  • wow, if you go to rebel sport knox on friday - you can get an additional 20% off!

sigh :( i live in nsw

    • This part of that special:

Conditions apply - discount not available with any other offer

      Would probably torpedo that anyways.

      • ahh true, one step ahead.

Mind you, if i lived near knox, id try anyway

        • Definitely! :)

I'd say 8/10 times I've tried this on at various stores I've pulled it off! Worth a shot, you've gotta be in it to win it! ;)

          • @StewBalls: you go in the morning, and if you get denied, come back in the afternoon. they might have different ppl working at different shifts so you'll double your chances lol

  • Before you buy, it should be said that the Football Federation Australia (FFA) website has the away jersey selling for $90 regular. The away jersey isn't as popular as the yellow one, hence the lower price. Still a good deal though, nonetheless.

And also keep in mind that the jersey is likely to change in a few months anyway. 2010 is a world cup year, and it will have been 2 years since this current jersey came out. We'll see a new one probably in January I reckon.

    • Sorry, I posted on the wrong post. Just ignore this reply comment.

Socceroos away jersey for $79, which is $50 off the normal price of $79! Say what ???

    • I was wondering about that myself…

    • i was also wondering what this meant…

    • Sorry again, I meant $130 not $79. I'm correcting that now…

There are many kinds of Merchandise, and not all certified by the FFA are the same quality. That being said, I bought a $20 one from Kmart, and it was actually pretty nice, and certified by the FFA. Just says "Socceroos" or something. IF NOT GET A BRAZIL SHIRT ON DISCOUNT! AND FORGE OUT THE "BR" and "IL" AND TAKE THE LEGS OF THE "A" AND THERE YOU GO YOU HAVE AN OZ SOCCER SHIRT AT A THIRD WORLD PRICE!

  • Third world price is $5.

  • LOL @auscadian

I want to have whatever you're having dude…LOL such imaginations

    • Third World Price for the stuff I'm having as well people!

  • Oh, just a small update when I bought the jersey:

The Socceroos scarf is $30 at Brisbane City (Queen St), as well as their online store.
However, the same thing is selling for $25 at Garden City. $5 less (means I get to eat 2.5 sushi rolls).
