Mobile plans - Best data, mainly with minimal calls/SMS?

Contract is over and phone is still running fine.

Am nearly always around wifi so 3G usage is minimal.
Call everyone via Skype/Viber so don't need calls.
Nearly everyone has iMessage/Facebook so free messaging.

Amaysim resell Optus so reception should be pretty good?

$100/10 GB/365 day expiry.
PAYG calls/sms

This seems the best option I could find. 10GB should last quite a while and I still have the ability to call or SMS normally if needed.
A block of data is much better than 1GB/month style because most of the time it'll only be 1-200MB, and when away it can easily be 4-5-6GB.

Any catches I've missed or it's one of the best options out there?

Betterlife are also a reseller of Optus and are on 4G with incredible deals if you have a Healthcare Card, I just signed up to the $33 without HCC and they charged me $39/month without contract or any additional fees.
I'll be getting my SIM card this week with service up next week.
Based on reviews by users it seems to be a really good deal

I'm on Amaysim for calls "as you go pack" but just add a data pack when we travel @ $10/1G 30 days.
Never had a problem with it.. Data seems to last well even when running 2 laptops through it.

  • I tried Amaysim but it did not work for me due to their MB billing. I suggest you get a sim and try one month.

Another option would be VF's $125/15GB/365 days. Coles this week offer 20% discount for VF recharge.

    • Excuse my ignorance - VF? Vodafone?

If so I was on them a few years ago and geez, it'd be like re-dating an ex that slept around with 50 different guys. They were beyond awful. Not sure I could trust them again.

MB billing is rubbish. Check my emails every hour during the day = 12MB or so of usage? 350 odd MB a month when really used 1MB tops. Pretty ridiculous. However I am rarely away from wifi so I could probably manage better than most.
