New BMW & Car Brokers

Hi fellow Ozbargainers,

I'm thinking of buying a new 2014 BMW X3 xDrive 20d LCI
Only needing basic options:

  • metallic paint
  • leather interior
  • And I can do the corporate package with 5 years 80000km free servicing.

I've been to a number of dealerships to test drive and negotiate a price.

My questions to you guys are:

  1. For those aggressive negotiators out there, do you find there's any point using car brokers? can they generally beat the dealership negotiated price? Which car broker did you use?

  2. For those people who are more familiar with BMW, what's a good price for the specs I listed? I am happy to buy from any dealership across the country as long as I factor in the shipping and it's still a good deal. I'm down to $68k in one negotiation so far.

Anyone able to help?

Thanks

BMW dealers generally don't discount much, if at all. I found buying through a fleet buyer is actually cheaper than trying to negotiate directly with the dealerships. As a general rule of thumb, 8% discount is the going rate.

    • Thanks for that. Did you use a broker? Any good reliable brokers?

  • Hey m8, just saw this and wondering how you went.

Regarding % off, you should always start with how much DD they charge. This is a variable mark up to give you a pseudo discount later. The corporate rate just brings your Dd down to normal or slightly below what is recommended by BMW australia. The mark up will be related to how popular a car is.

  • pm me and i can recommend a broker i used. =)
