  I think so, they still go for around 300 used and it's a fantastic phone

  its a good phone, yes, especially if you are looking for a compact but still very powerful phone.

  there's no significant difference between the Z1 compact and the Z3 compact (the snapdragon 801 is not significantly faster than the 800).

  I'd wait and get the z3 compact

  Same size dimensions but more surface area is actually screen (4.6" vs 4.3" for same size phone). Also slightly lighter.

  Other main difference is z3 compact has 700Mhz 4G which z1 doesnt, so when our phone providers start using this spectrum z3 will actually be able to use it

    I agree the Z1 has too much wasted screen area compared to the Z3. The local retail store price difference of $400 vs $650 is a fair trade-off though.
    If you use your phone primarily for calls/texts/photos and leave work and entertainment to a laptop or tablet, the Z1 is worth the $250 saving.

  Keep in mind that z1 compacts have issues with screen cracking, and once the screen is cracked, people say the phones are unusable and its still expensive to change the screen. I was set on z1 compact and was looking everywhere for one but this turned me off. Z3 compact has gorilla glass 3 and this was the turning point for me.
  However, if you take good care of your phone, dont drop it or bash it around in your pocket, you should be fine.

  I'm a truckie/tradie and carry my phone in my pocket all day and it gets bumped around quite a bit, so z3 compact it is for me.

  Good luck, it is an awesome phone, i wish i could get it but it's too risky for me.
