Brake Pad/Shoe - 2005 Nissan Pulsar N16 Sedan

First time to buy brake pad/shoe for my car and i just need some help here to choose the right type.

Quoted $200 or more from my regular mechanic for the front brake pads replacement and rotor machining and can only use the parts from their shop.

So i went to ask price from another mechanic who can just charge labor fee and i supply the pads, which cost $50, no machining, as he told me it might not be necessary.

I did some google but not many pages and answers.
So, i was looking to get Bendix and got confused that which one should i buy, here's what i found on their website:

Pulsar - Jul 2000 - Jan 2006 - N16 1.6, 1.8 Lucas Caliper (Disc/Disc-Use with original wrap around shim) - DB1761 DB1718
Pulsar - Jul 2000 - Jan 2006 - N16 1.6, 1.8 Sumitomo Caliper (Disc/Disc-Use with original wrap around shim) - DB1165 DB1718
Pulsar - Jul 2000 - Jan 2006 - N16 1.6, 1.8 (Disc/Disc-Use with original wrap around shim) - DB1454 DB1718
Pulsar - Jul 2000 - Jan 2006 - N16 (Disc/Drum) - DB1454 BS1792

My guess is the DB1454 as my car is Front Disc Rear Drum however, anyone can confirm that would be great.

I saw SCA has the DB1454 but it's a Calibre brand probably made by Bendix, is there any other shops that sell Bendix Brand DB1454(if that's the right one)

How many brake pads do i need if i change the front brakes, 1 pad for each rotor/wheel???

  • Do not attempt it yourself…!! You may find it will end up costing you a lot of money :-(

Go to repco and get their branded pads… I find them to be as good as bendix if not better.

You will need 2 pads per wheel. 4 to do both front wheels.

Get a qualified mechanic to install them… you will be glad you did.

  • take off the wheel and take a photo the compare with bendix website, for $200 u better change the rotor too.

  • Whichever brake pads you buy for your vehicle, they all come in a set (front or rear), so don't worry about how many pads you need, just buy one set of front brake pads. Also, Bendix sell many different types of the same brake pad. I prefer Bendix CT's over Bendix Ulimate's but other peoples opinions may differ.
