Looking for some budget Vacation ideas for Xmas week in/around Australia.
4 adults + 1 infant. A nice quiet family break type of place would do.
Around 5-7days, flexible dates. Max $1.5-2k budget.
Such a shame this last min planning seems does not allow us to choose any cheaper SE Asia location or NZ or Fiji :(

I need to look into it more, however I have been looking into Air BnB. We'll be away over Xmas so whole place available (3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bathrooms, 2 streets back from beach, ~6 years old so quite nice). Hervey Bay, next to Fraser Island. Few hrs north of Brisbane, direct flights from Sydney. Nice swimming beach, half metre waves or so. If interested just msg me and can talk more, it would be much cheaper then anything in Gold/Sunnie Coast at Xmas time; and personally I find the place nicer (if you were 20 and drinking every night I'd suggest the others, if you're wanting to chill this is the place, which is why we we're flooded with retirees!)
Friends go to Jindabyne in summer. Off season prices, swimming in the lake and mountain biking, bush walking and other outdoor things.
