ING not honoring refer a friend deal ...

I referred my hubby to that ING promotion last month where we both were to get $75 if he opened a new account and deposited $1k … Which was done …. But when we contacted them this week chasing this up they said that they had no details of his registration to this promotion and so he/we are ineligible for the $75.

Not happy … has this happened to anyone else? We definitely signed up via the link and entered the code which had been emailed out.

  • The exact same thing happened to me…I have had a long email conversation with them this week and they are refusing to honour the promotion because they said I didn't use the code…I referred my hubby also and I know we used the code.
    Really annoying and frustrating because how can you prove you did use the code?

  • Hmmm… applied the same week as was emailed the link. I'm sure I did it all as per their terms and conditions but maybe I wasn't one of the first 10,000 ….damn

  • Just gave them a call, she said the payment should start tomorrow 14th and told me to wait.
    Hope this is true.

    • they told me 7th of November last time I called. They must be hard up for it or something.

      Hopefully we wont have to send the Ozbargain balance bikie gang around there to sort them out.

    Same here, opened an account for family members but then I get told sorry you didn't meet the requirements. It's strange how different operatorz came up with different excuses
    1. Your friends didn't enter the code while registering. They did as I was with them.
    2. They didn't activate their account in time - even though they did it in front of me over the phone
    3. They never deposited money in their account - I myself deposited $2 in each of their accounts
    4. Sorry due to privacy laws we can't share why you are not eligible as we can't share other party details on line.
    5. It was targeted promotion, how did you find about it?

  • I called them up late October and they said they would be releasing bonuses in two go's batches so to speak, and each batch would go through various days. I really liked the company due to its efficiency and rewards for customers. But now they just feel cheap.

  • I talked to ING late last night.

    • They will honor the promotion, no worries.
    • The bonus will start to appear in your everyday account after 6 weeks of promotion end date. Promotion fully ended on 25th of October so payout will start in early-mid December.
    • I asked to check if i'm eligible and yes I'm. Yay, 4 whole chicken sorted @Nandos!
    • Already received the bonus, both me and my referee.
