It's alright. We know who it is required for.

Because he saw one and if you have kids, I am sure you can understand

i don't have kids, but if i did i'd say "sorry, no, i don't think you need one of those"

        • Ignorance is bliss

        one of those parents…

I wish I could convince my kids to want a quadcopter. If they weren't so scared of them, I would try and slide one under the xmas tree this year…

Or maybe I'm being too soft and should do it anyway… lol!

You can probably buy him one of those Air Hogs toys (http://au.airhogs.com/). He probably just wants something that flies; it doesn't necessarily have to be a quad copter drone.

Keep him supervised when he plays with these things though.

Next thread will be 'Surgeon required to reattach 6 year old's fingers. Up to $500 per finger. '

In case you didn't understand my sarcasm, this is a completely inappropriate toy for a 6 year old child. Even the smallest quadcopter can take an eye out, or fly away. I fly and build many quads, and they are not easy to fly, they are dangerous, they are easy to break. I guess what I am really saying, is that you are a terrible, terrible parent (and human being) for even suggesting it.

  • I'm with Op on this. Bought my son a remote controlled helicopter last year (when he was 6yo) and he loved it. Pity I bought a cheap one, it only lasted less than a week. This year he wants a drone or Air Hog. I'd be very interested in this thread if we can get some sensible answers, but he'll probably just get what i can afford……

hi there - having gone through exactly the same, here's the answer for you!

Option 1 (Quad copter): I bought my 11yr old son a Hubsan X4 (non-camera version, better battery life, you can also youtube it), from Banggood, total cost $87.39 delivered (took about a month though) - note the 5 extra batteries and the 6 battery charger! We can fly for about an hour!

1 x HobbyTiger 6 Port Battery Charger For Walkera Hubsan RC Quadcopter (SKU141134) AU$14.32
    1 x New Version Upgraded Hubsan X4 V2 H107L 2.4G 4CH RC Quadcopter RTF (SKU072712) AU$46.29
Mode Mode 2 (Left Hand Throttle)
    1 x Hubsan X4 H107L H107C V252 JXD385 Quadcopter Parts Protection Cover (SKU121336) AU$8.81
    1 x 5x3.7V 500mAh Battery For Hubsan X4 H107 H107L H107C H107D V252 JXD385 (5xSKU097373) AU$17.63

Good first quad. Though they aren't easy to fly stable like the fancy expensive ones. Recommend the 3D protection cover!

    OR

Option 2 (Recommended - Micro helicopter): I bought my 6yr old a helicopter, one of those tiny ones, Silverlit Nano Falcon ($39 at Target)
I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THIS TOY - we went on and bought 3 on different frequencies and have a blast indoors in the house as they are so tiny. Absolutely amazing and it is super stable flight, you can't go wrong! Perfect for a 6yr old.

    Good luck!

    • Thank you jabbairc

      • no worries!

  • Make sure to factor in a helmet and maybe if or goggles if it doesn't come provided with the helmet.. haha just in case :P those blades can take an eye out.. no joke!

  • What's with all the helicopter parents on this forum (pun intended) :)

I'd just hit up BangGood sort by price - http://www.banggood.com/Wholesale-RC-Quadcopters-c-1848-0-1-…

The Cheerson CX-10 is tiny, cheap and looks like fun but depends on what you are looking for I guess.
