New projector screen/alternatives

I've had a Benq W1070 projector for about a year and bought a cheapish electric projector screen on ebay at the time 110"

I haven't been using it much lately because there are really obvious waves/lines on the screen especially in bright scenes. I'd prefer to be using the projector over the plasma but at times I just prefer the clean shiny look of the tv

Is there any cheap alternative (less than $200?) to the projector screen that I can do such as a cheap paint which will have no visible marking or anything during use. Don't have the money to spend $1000 on a screen for a $800 projector

It's currently hanging on a wall, which I can paint the entire wall if necessary. Also I watch a fair bit of 3D so something that helps brighten up the screen/more shiny/reflecty would be great

Thanks guys! :)

  • What did you end up doing?

I'm looking to set up a media room and getting some info from those with experience. :)

    • It was a while ago now so can't remember in too much detail the paints I used, but I painted the wall with a basic white matte paint, sanding before I started painting, and after each paint layer, did about 6 layers, looked great, then used a special silver mix that was recommended on the net, I think it was called silver widow or something like that, it looked way worse than the basic white, so ended up using the last bit of white paint to do a couple of layers on top of the silver.

Then I put a wooden frame around it with black velvet wrapped around the wood.

A basic white paint does the job for me as long as you make sure you sand it so it is completely smooth.
