Any Experiences Purchasing Phones with DWI? Reviews Appreciated

Hi Folks,

I came across this deal wherein LG G3 is available for $509 through DWI. I'm a bit skeptical purchasing a phone through this site since I've never made any purchases before. Besides, I've heard from some people that products purchased from Kogan go bad after a year (don't know how true it is.) Wonder if the same applies to DWI.

Could someone please let me know:

  1. If the products sold on DWI are genuine?
  2. DWI warranty - Do they replace the piece if it goes bad when under warranty?

Would appreciate you'll sharing your experiences with purchases from this site.

Thanks.

  • One Ozbargainer has had a pretty poor experience with returns recently.

As much as some have issues, I doubt the stuff is fake, it's just grey market.

  • It's just grey market. I had no problems with the Moto G phone I bought, but apparently some people have issues with returns, maybe I'm just lucky. It went through a local forwarder actually, and they called to double check the delivery address. BTW, DWI themselves suggest you pay by Paypal and that gives you a bit more leverage in a dispute.

    • They charge you for using PayPal haha

      • Men, I'm not that fussed about a few bucks. Besides I found a coupon that made it for it. And it still came out cheaper than locally, if there had been any stock (16GB model).

        • If you're quick they have pay pal 30 off over 500 atm

        • +1

@bargdebarg: Thanks for the heads up. My Moto is still working fine touch wood, swyping with it now. Appreciate the tip.

  • I've bought a phone and a camera lens from them about a year ago. Both arrived quickly and are still working (touch wood).

As tplen1 mentioned, it's not fake or anything - just grey market. When people buy from brick and mortar stores and something goes wrong, they blame the manufacturer because retailers are simply the middle man.

When things go wrong and they've bought from DWI/kogan/eglobal etc, they blame the merchant instead because:
    1) these overseas merchants are not bound by australia laws and thus are evil, money-grabbing corporations and
    2) usually repairs/replacement under warranty are both more difficult and limited to one year (whereas local warranty is pretty much always 2 years AFAIK)

  • Check whirlpool forum, active conversion over there

  • Recent DWI experience. But camera and over your spend. They've got a great rep within greys.

Purchased 2277 worth of DSLR camera and one lens on 15/11 via PayPal. Paid 2% surcharge but used $30 off code so out of pocket about $14.

Was not address verified, so on Monday was sent automated email, replied from work email with copy of drivers licence.

Got it this afternoon 24/11. Not bad. Under valued on customs declaration to avoid extra tax. Nice.

  • there is a cyber monday code, CYBERWK14 (over $20 off $400 purchase )
